Storing vintage

I am fairly new to the vintage scene and am curious how to store them.

By vintage, I mean 1979-1982 and older.

I am looking for different to store things.

For example, I thought about putting my commons from the 1930s-1965ish in either penny sleeves or in a notebook. Not sure about commons after that, the type from the late 60s and 70s.

What about stars? I thought about putting them into top loaders as screwdowns are too expensive to buy for each individual card.

But what BV do you cut off for putting into a sleeve/notebook or into a top loader? If I decide to use screwdowns, what BV do I stop using top loaders and start using screwdowns.

Also, what about early Bowman, Leaf, Doubleheader, Caramel, Ts, etc. How do you store those? On some of the early ones, like my few E-121 Caramels, the BVs on the commons are $150. So was curious on your thoughts on those.

Just any advice, help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I do vintage commons in penny sleeves, then store them in a 4k count box by year. For Cards with a BV of 40+ and are in great condition I do Screw downs. Anything else I use toploaders. For example my 1972 topps Willie Mays is not in awesome condition, so I put it in a toploader. Early commons go in top loaders and older minor/semi stars go in screwdowns. Hope that answers your questions!

Thanks for the information. I wound up putting all the 1965s-1970s (not counting the stars) in a notebook. As for the stars and commons from the 1950s-mid 1960s, I put them in top loaders in a box. Like I said, I don't use screwdowns at all. Too pricey and too builky/troublesome to store.

my best advice is to store them at my house! lol
i put all vintage in a penny sleeve
ANY vintage in Very nice condition in top load
and anything over 10 bucks bv in toploader
