By being honored as first team all NBA this season, Kobe becomes the only player with at least 11 first team all-nba selections, and 9 first team all-defensive!
So right now he's tied only with Malone for all-nba first team selections with 11, and tied only with Kareem for most all-nba selections with 15.
Defensively he's tied with KG, Jordan and Payton for most first team selections.
Pretty amazing that he tied for most EVER in both first team categories!
Congrats to Kobe!

Congrats to him, but this was definitely more of a lifetime award, rather than a season award.

Not sure how you could say that.
He led shooting guards in points.
He led shooting guards in rebounds
He led shooting guards in assists
I'd say he certainly earned it

I just can't see someone getting the 1st team award for leading the one of the most overhyped teams of all time.

Well at the end of the day, Chris Paul, Kobe and Durant aren't in the playoffs, so I don't see your point.
Kobe earned it, and the voting wasn't even close

You don't need a troll's approval to know Kobe is one of the all time greats!

Please quote me where I mentioned Chris Paul and Kevin Durant and please quote me where I said the Thunder and Clippers were overhyped.

Seriously? Out of all the short bus riders here, I'm the troll? I've proven myself enough on here. I guess I'll be on my way because if someone disagrees with you, they're a troll.
God bless.

No, I don't think you ARE a troll, I just think you are trolling in this particular instance! ;)
It is clear as day that Kobe has earned the achievements that Jack has mentioned, yet you are nitpicking about what 'type' of achievement it was??
Just let him have it! lol

For an "old man", he still had a very soild season, averaging over 26 a game. Too bad this season didn't go the way he planned. He will be back for the start of next season, mark my words.

Congrats to Kobe... In my mind it was between him and Harden and I felt Harden did just as much with inferior talent around him...

Kobe 12-13 Stats: 27.3 PPG, 6.0 APG, 5.6 RPG
LeBron 12-13 Stats: 26.8 PPG, 7.3 APG, 8.0 RPG
So 1 Assist and 2 rebound per game less than LeBron (unanimous MVP) is not worth being on the All NBA 1st team?
Don't forget that he willed that "overhyped" team to the Playoffs.
Statements like this bother me because there are just those individuals that will never give Kobe the respect he deserves.
The same "lifetime achievement award" comment was made when he won the MVP. When in reality, he should have a few MVP awards. It's okay though, I'm sure he's okay with the 5 championships he has.

clearly an ignorant comment, you can say someone else is more deserving, but to simply say it's a lifetime award is very disrespectful, it's so absurd of a comment I feel ashamed myself just for reading it

One of the best to ever do it. Glad I got to see him play. Hopefully he comes back strong next season. Congrats Kobe

this is a great accomplishment for kobe!!!! since these three players are probably the most talked about on here, here is a little tid bit of info. kobe in 17 seasons is at 11/9 (1st all nba team, 1st all defensive team), jordan in 13 seasons (1 injury shortened season and 1 retirement comback shortened season making 2 of his 15 seasons ineligible) is at 10/9, and lebron in 10 seasons is at 7/5. i hope the same people that detract from lebron's mvp awards due to the voters dont do this to kobe in this case.
