Will it be the lowest rated Finals???

Whether the Spurs play the Pacers or the Heat...

The ratings are going to be really bad....
Might be worse than 2007 in my opinion.

Spurs and nets are the lowest watched rated finals ever! Not the 2007 i believe

Considering Texas is the second most populous state, and we will likely see Lebron in the finals, where is the basis to your statement?

MikeMamba

Nope 2007 had a 6.2 rating

Spurs vs Nets had a 6.5

The fact that the Spurs own the 2 lowest NBA ratings ever, and one of them featuring Lebron...
This can be very likely...

I see your point but this also may be the last year Duncan and this group see an NBA finals...

Firstly - Everyone always likes to pinpoint the Spurs as the cause of the low ratings, but you have to consider that the 5 worst rated finals' were all in the 6 year period from 02-07, so you have to acknowledge that it is the game itself that was in a slump, not just the particular teams involved.

Secondly - The 2007 series was a sweep! When you consider that no team had ever come from 3-0 down to win, then why would you expect the ratings in game 4 to even be half of previous games? That would help drag the ratings down!

Thirdly - F*** ratings! The NBA has crapped on it's own dinner table by promoting the game purely as a game of 'Superstars'. They constantly promote Durant, Kobe, Lebron instead of OKC, LA and Miami. They deserve what they get when they don't encourage people to appreciate the game itself. The Spurs are THE BEST team in the NBA when it comes to playing 'fundamentally' and always focussing on the end result instead of the highlight reels. But that just gets passed off as 'boring' basketball!

Ratings don't mean a thing, I know a lot of people who watch NBA games (among other things) on live streaming....

I watch the Spurs on League Pass more than I watch any other team. They're the best team to watch, in my opinion. Basketball at its best.

I think a Spurs vs Heat finals - especially if it is closely fought - could be a ratings hit.

I agree. Who cares about ratings. It's a shame that most people only care about highlight dunks and flashiness, or 'superstar' players, when you have a Spurs team playing old school basketball and doing it very well. Respect the fundamentals of the game.

This will be a huge NBA finals! People wanna see Lebron, if they can repeat and if Lebron can get revenge on the Spurs.

if it's spurs vs heat then I believe it will get good ratings the series just seems more appealing than spurs vs pacers but like most of you said screw ratings no matter who plays I will watch all the games I can

I have been a Spurs fan my whole life (live close to San Antonio) and every year I hate how all commentators downplay Spurs game. Even in these past 4 games against Grizzlies they were comparing Mike Connelly with Parker, I mean seriously the guy is not even close to Parkers level, and even though the Grizzlies were getting stomped the announcers only seemed to highlight the plays the Grizzlies made. I don't get it but its been that way every year, but it seems Spurs thrive on this and play better that way. I guess Duncan will just have to cry himself to sleep wearing his 5th ring after these finals.

hahaha how many years have we seen these kinda of comments, and continuously proven wrong. Stop it, you make yourself look mediocre at best.

Miami has an older age average all around than the Spurs, do your homework.

AMEN! Finally someone with intelligence. Teach these little kids man, just like we teach the NBA how to ball.

That makes sense but at the end of the day, the average NBA fan is not going to watch a Final with the Spurs lol

The NBA thrives on superstars, it will forever thrive on that.

If it is Spurs/Pacers, I can definitely see it being bad for TV ratings.

Spurs/Heat would be fine though.

I just don't want to see see Lebron flopping/crying anymore.. If I wanted to watch a drama queen, I can easily turn on Dr. Phil.

I agree with this. The casual fan doesn't want to see Pacers vs Spurs. I'm excited for either matchup.

I am wondering 2 things. 1) Would Spurs sit out all the starters so that they can have a early summer vacation? 2) If yes, how much would they get fine for this?
