View Full Version : Gamers collectors....Grey Flanel?

Are they pretty legit? Seeing some auctions I'm interested in but most of them seem to have absolutely no certification other than Grey Flanel saying they were presented as game-used. Almost sounds like Panini's vague wording on the back of cards. Any opinions will be appreciated as I'm new to the 'older' game used curcuit(obviously Meigray is 100%, as is NFL Auctions, and FMG;)) and would question anything not obtained directly to me from the athlete or with a legit COA.

I mentioned that in a previous thread, that auction houses are simply covering themselves (if proven wrong) by using those vague statements.
It's a difficult thing - do you take their word (and COA)? They have made lots of mistakes before, but also have had some real beauties.
I'm only around for another 15 min but let me know what you're thinking about.

I have 4 gamers and one game used shirting shirt...all either came directly from the Bulls with Bulls LOA, or Meigray...that's the only way I would purchase a gamer...Meigray, or actual team LOA.....

I would only stick with meigray personally.

grey flannel pretty much is the GAI of game used stuff. they grade stuff based on if it is pro-cut and have any minor wear in it.

GFA is a good place to find gamers coz they usually have more bball items than any other auction house, but in this hobby doing ur homework is always a must

Very well put, John. There are often some steals to be had if one knows what he/she is doing.

Hot damn, I was wanting the Garnett but it's at $1800+ (with 20% premium on top) - next bid would make it $2400 total - far too much for me.
That one I DID manage to photomatch. Took me quite a lot of time but thanks to my contact at Getty and a lot of searching I found ONE image it matched perfectly to.
Can't comment about the other items in that lot, but the jersey is definitely legit. I wouldn't go for any other item though as I hadn't been able to research those. Not saying they're not real though.
