so that is 27 that i would be "happy" about getting - the others, while there are some cool players, can just be had too cheaply. even some of the players i listed will be readily available for less than the cost difference between buying boxes there and somewhere - anywhere - else. also, we know the rookies and diamonds are almost certain to not be as common as the private signings.

i just dont see the value in this promotion. i guess "buy a box of something you probably wouldnt otherwise want, and that will allow you to purchase a $30 one card pack and it will probably be john salley" wasnt a very catchy promo name.

There are going to be a bunch of them that are low numbered like football. Out of 1, 3, 5, 10, etc. I can see some people trying to complete the set. Overseas buyers are going to want them too. Good luck to all.

You do notice that when you go to the website the only boxes that are "In Stock" that are part of the promotion are 2012-13 Timeless Treasures ($100), 2012-13 Past and Present ($100) and 2012-13 Contenders ($120)...

2012-13 Limited and 11-12 Certified (not even shown on the site) are both out of stock.

So either way you look at it you are paying $20-$30 mark up on the boxes to get a shot at one of these packs... not bad if you get the right card, but definitely not a sure thing...

But I bet I try it anyways, lol.

Out of the three products available contenders is the obvious choice. It just sucks that at the $120 price point, you would have to buy 5 boxes to make it an even $100 number.

I tried to get in on this. The price on the TC was actually kinda low. I went to add it to my cart maybe 3 minutes after they sent out the e-mail and it was already sold out. No way I'm buying any of that other stuff. Not only are they $25-$35 more than anywhere else, they're crappy products that were already hard to get a good ROI when they were $70.

The football promo had the same concerns. There were some less than desireable players but there were also some really nice ones with low print runs. Unopened promo boxes sold well. Even at $100 for some of the boxes people were still coming out ahead. You can't get hurt too bad. Even if you open your promo box and get a $30-$50 hit your only into the box you bought for $50-$70 and who knows what you hit in those. It's the same risk as buying a "discounted" box of these products from BO and you aren't getting the promo pack. I was able to get 3 boxes of Limited but not sure what I'll do with the promo packs.

i think the Lights Out gu set is one of the best jersey sets Panini has ever done, and i like the rookie auto design. Limited was not the worst.

but honestly i cannot buy as much wax as some, and when i do i cant do it just for the hell of taking part in a promotion if that means paying like 30% more.

id prefer to save the money and put it towards another box of Select at blowout prices.

Some of you guys are off your rocker if you think the bonus pack/box is worth only $30 just because that's how much your are paying extra on a box. The bonus autos will likely sell better than the boxes that you order to get them, so just think of them as free boxes to break after you sell the bonus pack for $100+. Keep in mind that the autos in the bonus pack will be numbered 25 or less. If you have the money, you should be buying the crap out of this promo. The Super Bowl promo had a similar checklist and it really wasn't too hard to pull something that you would like because of the limited print run.

As reference, I was able to sell my Super Bowl Promo packs for $150 each weeks after they went live (unfortunately one of them had a Andrew Luck auto, but at least my buyer was a happy camper). I would expect these NBA ones to go no less than $100.

basicly you are paying $30 above market value on these boxes to get the bonus packs that should be worth $100.

If you are a breaker, and I plan on breaking all of mine, the profit should be in whatever you get out of the boxes you bust. The bonus packs should bring you a decent return if you buy enough of them to insure a good hit.

Close to impossible to complete the set as there were cards numbered as low as 2 or 3. The Super Bowl promo took at least a day to sell out as well, but once they were live, people were wondering why they didn't buy more.

Try and add 100 boxes of limited to your cart. It'll tell you that quantity isn't available on both the limited boxes and the promo packs. Work it down from there.

For reference, right now there are only 10 limited boxes left, 8 timeless treasures, and 94 promo packs.

All of the remaining ones are pretty awful. Personally I think TT is easily the worst of this bunch.

I tried to buy 5 boxes of TC maybe 3 minutes after they opened this up in the store and they were gone. They were easily the best value and actually a little cheaper than online sites. I called and spoke to Jennifer at customer service there to see if she could re stock or add anything else. She called me back an hour later and said she couldnt get anymore. I'm guessing they only had a dozen or so of those boxes. Disappointing but the customer service was pretty good at least.

I have had the opposite reaction... I'm more encouraged by the numbering. Guys like Durant, Magic, Kobe (in some products), Wade, etc. are all SSP'd in normal products; probably at a comparable rate. But there are far fewer complete landmines than your average product. And there are some really good autos that are /10 or even /25 (Kyrie).

That's a good point, but they also do Father's Day and Black Friday packs for shops.

They do those as well, but they also make the shops buy more product in order for them to get packs. The product is also sold to the stores at basically MSRP, so it may benefit the stores with more foot traffic, but they are also left with unsold inventory. They should give stores more opportunities to move older product. It's a win-win for Panini when a store moves through old products, clears up space for new products to come in, gives the store some cash flow to buy more of the newer products, and increases foot traffic in the store so you have the possibility of attracting new people to the hobby.

Don't hold your breath. Panini is pretty much terrible with hockey without the likes of Gretzky, Orr, etc. Their hockey stuff sells really poorly on the secondary market compared to Upper Deck, which still has their license.

I look forward to Panini's response to the unsealed boxes. It should be something along the lines of "These are for collectors" and "Its about the hobby" and blah blah blah. I plan on bombarding them with their own links hyping up how high some of their cards go for on eBay (particularly the Luck Contenders ticket that actually sold for 1/4 the price they hyped). We just cleared your inventory of crappy unsellable products and we paid a ridiculous premium with the expectation that these we'd get these SEALED packs in a timely fashion. Topps needs to get the NBA license back so I actually have choices when it comes to who I buy my NBA from.

Sorry for the rant, just really annoyed with all of this.

I got 2 out my total 5 ordered today. Got a Kevin McHale #5/10 and a Dennis Rodman #4/15. Was going to sell them but couldn't live with the unknown. What's really funny is that the don't ship wrapped in plastic, there's just an offset piece of tape so you can pull up the bottom corner and see whats in there. People buying these on eBay are probably getting poo cards that people already looked at by pulling up the corner.

If its sealed, you could sell it with no problem if you want. If its not sealed, you should open it.

erhhhh that is not a real diamond...from the look of it, it looks around 2- 2.5 carats. doubt they would put a real diamond of that size (any color) there
