So was looking around and came across this:

Now clearly the guy is saying they are custom and 'art' etc etc. Not some guy just trying to make a fake.

Is this legal to do?

He seems to have a large amount selling on ebay and was wondering what people thought?

Not sure if it's legal, but some of these (Jennings & Ellis Bucks logo) look awesome! I wouldn't spend much money on them though.

Yeah they look pretty nice. Although at those prices I would def. pass.

I wonder because he uses logos and photos and all if its legal. But I guess cause its art it could be different?

they are using real photos, which someone holds the rights to.

They can't use the team logos, I'm almost positive.

Nope, no difference, unless he paid the rights use the logos and photos, it's illegal.

Technically, no, they can't use likeness, photos, team logos, names without permission. These are so small time though that they know hardly anyone will waste time or money to go after them.

Companies have entire departments that look for people using their logos and such. Doesn't matter if the person or logo they use is big or small. My sister was a copyright/patent lawyer for playboy for a while and they would go after people in any country. If they are using a companies logo, pictures, etc. the company will go after them. It just might take some time before they actually get to them.

Interesting.

So what if you were to buy the photo? Or use a royalty free photo?

The logo thing would be harder I assume.

But did someone say you can't use names? How can that be?

And you know what?
They were pretty good quality.
I say go for it if you like it.

So leaf and sports kings use photos but either blur jersey or just show head. But they use players name. I think leaf using team names but sports kings doesn't.

So how can sports kings use name and photo?

haha. It seems like logos and teams are off limits. But what about names and photos?

I think custom cards in general are so stupid. It already is running 90's inserts, with all those fakes popping up, and people can't even tell anymore what's real and what's not. Smh

I think this "hobby" of making custom cards is a real problem for the real cards, and should stay away from ebay, and our hobby in general. Why collect fake stuff when you can have the real thing! :)
