Hello,

I am new to this forum, was hoping I could get some insight on what is the best case to break as far as bang for your buck. I know that you can very easily lose out, with a full case of anything though I am hoping I can find something that gives me a solid shot of pulling something solid and getting my money back on the case.

I am looking for nothing too high end, have looked at either doing an SP Authentic or Playoff Contenders case. Any suggestions (both football or basketball) would be appreciated.

Thanks for everyones help!

From what I've seen, I would suggest staying away from Playoff Contenders. I managed to pull a Calvin Johnson in the few packs I opened at the local shop, but it sounds like a lot of others that opened Contenders didn't do all that well. So far, SP Authentic seems to be pretty solid and that's saying a lot being a product from UD.

If you're interested in some of the products that have been out for a little bit, I actually liked Leaf Limited. The variety of things you could get out of there made it fun for me to open.

Just my 2 cents :)

P.S. Welcome to the forum!

I definately am interested in whatever. From reading other breaks the Contenders seems pretty hit or miss like you said. The SP Authentic seems pretty good like you said, I am just looking to open a case that gives me a pretty good chance of making my money back and maybe hitting some nice stuff. I don't know much about Leaf Limited, sounds interesting though!

The SP Auto's prices are starting to drop, but for a football product, this has been bar none, the best UD product in awhile. Gridiron gear, and threads have also been decent. Threads or Leaf Limited, or even Nat. Treasures would be nice for the pc's.

If your looking for resale, SP is the hottest thing right now were you stand a deent shot a getting most of your money back as long as you get the expected number of hits and maybe a little luck with a 2nd sp auto patch.

My 2 cents would be the Leaf Limited or Donruss Threads for value on getting your money back, Nat. Treasures or SPA if going for the big one for resale tlike iluvfish2 stated.

Thanks for all the help, looks like the prices of the SPA keep going up, that may push me away from them. I would do the National Treasures, price is pretty crazy on that though. I am thinking either the Leaf limited, Donruss Threads, or Gridiron Gear depending on what prices I can find. Thanks again for everyones help!

I'd opt for GG or Threads. Have you thought about R&S or LCM? I think just about anything from Donruss this year should be a good bet (the exception could be Limited due to the big risk/rewards structure of it, but even that has more hits this year than years past). Good luck on your pick and post the results!

I don't much much about the LR&S or Certified Materials. Materials looks a little pricier, how do they compare to GG or Threads? I want to crack something, just want to limit the risk. I would love to do National Treasures, that stuff is a little too high though!

Do a search in the FB Breaks Forum and use that along with Chris' descriptions for the product to get an idea of what you might be getting. Obviously lower price equals less risk, and less $$ to try and recoupe, but probably lesser chance of hitting a big dollar card. However, generally speaking, lesser priced boxes have more packs (LCM, GG, Treads vs Sweet Spot, Limited, or NT). So your fun does last a little longer.

First box of Limited I broke put me in shock. Then again, I've now done 5 boxes of National Treasures (06)...so that was 350 (much higher on the 1st 4 in 5 min a box....nothing like spending 50 bucks a minute when you only make 20 bucks an hour!)

I year you on that. I haven't done much with cards in a long time, the prices shocked me! I don't mind spending some money as I deal with some high end memorabilia items quite often. I just need to figure our what calculated risk I am willing to take. No matter what it isn't like you end up with nothing though! I really do appreciate your feedback and help!

definately stick to the SP Authentic case, thats your best bet at getting some awesome things...Leaf Limited is horrible in my opinion, but I only broke one box of it so who am I to say :)
