Upper Deck on Thursday evening finally has released product information and drool-inducing images of 2009 Exquisite Collection Football, the forthcoming new installment of the most expensive product in football card history.
While Upper Deck officials have yet to reveal many of the hand-collated product’s specifics, they have confirmed that the 2009 edition, set to release Feb. 23, will include a bonus pack in every box guaranteed to deliver an additional autographed memorabilia card. In addition, all rookie autographs will be numbered to 225 or less and every autograph in the product will be signed on-card.

Exquisite has always been the top of the line product from Upper Deck, only (sometimes) matched by National Treasures from Panini/Donruss. It’s not often that you pay $500 for seven cards for the ultimate collecting gamble. In my years of collecting, I’ve only actually bought one Exquisite card (baseball), and they’re extremely nice, and very thick.
New in the final product of 2009 (although released well into 2010) hinged cards, which take the concept of booklet cards that Topps pioneered and give it the Exquisite treatment. Also, each box will include a bonus pack with an additional autographed memorabilia card, which will either be one of the Exquisite Autobiography or Exquisite Rookie Bookmarks hinged cards.

This is the product that most of us never see a box of, much less open or own. I’ve been lucky enough to own a single Exquisite card from eBay, and have gotten to see/experience a National Treasures and Topps Sterling box to see how nice they are, but Exquisite is a whole new level of high end, to be honest. The cards have been the subject of controversy in 2007, they’re hand-collated and packed, and they’re generally gorgeous cards.
There’s a ton of cards I’d love to own in this set, but I’m not even going to look because I know that they’re going to be insanely expensive. Suffice it to say that there are a ton of collectors that live for Exquisite, and we’ll be able to see numerous box/case breaks on the internet in the coming weeks. I’m not too sure about the hinged cards, but we’ll have to see how this works out.
Update: Upper Deck just informed me that they will be uploading pictures from the packout of this product to their Facebook page in the next week. I’ll add those to the gallery here as soon as they’re live, as well.

HAHAHAHA I just got the last presale case of this SWEET!!!!!!

I went back to read the description again and the deadly email of box/case price message was where the price usually is...hope i bought a good one with some of these hits (well ill take the dual logoshield) in it...whats funny is they pack all these boxes then mix them all up before they put them in cases.....hummmm im thinking they will prob try to put at least 1 big card thats "suppose" to be the hit of the box aka those sick looking patch autos but whats funny is if you get lucky you can have 3 GREAT boxes in a case if all they do is mix all the boxes up...just imagine a case with 3 1/1 shields lol too funny cant wait to open this!!

no it doesnt it says:

if you look at the second post by blowout, in the power point with the brandon marshall book card, it states that there is one booklet or rookie bookmarks per bonus pack

$500 a box though! I've bought high-priced stuff, and it's just hard for me to get impressed with something unless it's utterly amazing. I think Topps Sterling 2008 had some utterly impressive 1/1 jumbo patches, for example.

I'd like to see a few breaks, at least, before jumping into a product of this caliber.
