Well, I've decided to do a side project. But, I need some help from fellow members. I'm a huge niners fan. I would love to start a Kaepernick collection, but future potential/value is a concern. Or any other players you would invest in. Any input would be appreciated.

I did this recently. I wanted something besides chasing top qbs. I went back to my childhood, been picking up a ton of montana stuff. I pick up almost anything that I dont have, and I can honestly saying I am enjoying the 5 Montanas in my mail everyday way more than I was enjoying the $1,000 card of a player I dont even follow.
whether you choose past or present players, 49ers have a ton to choose from.

Are you looking in terms of resale? Long-term? Short-term?

Investing for long term. But yeah, possible resale.

Maybe Michael Crabtree?

As far as the 49ers I've been trying to grab an AJ Jenkins here or there for resale, but I haven't had much luck. eBay prices can be...frustrating. But hey, if he somehow breaks off 2 for two TDs in a win, woo hoo! Just have to hope the enhanced coverage on targets like Vernon Davis or Boldin benefits him.
I like Dwayne Harris too, but I'm a Cowboys homer. ;)
Jeffery, Cobb. Maybe Toon or Kendall Wright. I think many of these young WRs could step it up.
Just a disclaimer. I'm trying to "flip" on a very small level, so I can open more wax. Eases the girlfriend's mind on football card purchases too. :)!
