I just got a notice that eBay has sided with the buyer on an item I sold and given him back money for an autographed photo he bought that he claimed was fake. At first he said he had the item, and I told him if he wanted a refund to send it back and I would refund his purchase. Then he said he didn't have it, and that it was sent to an authenticator. Later he said he was sending the item back - it has not arrived.
He opened a dispute, and I provided every message he sent. Not once did he respond to the case, and not once did ebay contact me.
Now I get a nice message that eBay has sided with the buyer and has given him his money back. Lovely! Now he has the item AND his money.
It is no surprise that the person who decided this case is not in the office, and now I have to wait for them to call me.
By the way .. the bidder is wizmbop. Please save yourselves the trouble and block him now.
Thanks for reading my rant.

Blocked, thanks for the heads up!! Ebay NPB's and things like this seem to be the norm right now :(

Sadly, I'm going to be out $45 and the item. I should removed every listing I have, but there really isn't an alternative.

That is exactly right, it is the best way to sell and get your items the most exposure. Too bad they could give a rat's ass about us sellers, it makes it very frustrating

This happened to me multiple times in 2009. in the previous 9 years, never. Ebay has become a suck fest.

Blocked. I agree about ebay though, it's pretty sad that they give so much freedom to the buyers when the sellers are the ones who put all the money in their pockets.

I just got another message saying that my request for an appeal was denied, and that their decision is final. I know it is only $45, but I wonder if I can file a small-claims court case against him since he is not returning the item.

I'd still be calling them, thats bull! How can an appeal be determined when the person that needs to review it isnt even in?

after about an hour on the phone with them, they finally came to their senses and not only listened to my appeal, but found that I did everything I was supposed to and remove the collection from my account. HOWEVER, he still got his money back and he kept the photo. They told me that the authenticator he used was not recognised by eBay.
Now I see he has left me negative feedback, and eBay says that it will not be removed. Lovely.

WOW, so they listened to everything you said, and agreed that you did everything right, acknowledged that his entire claim is based on an unapproved authenticator, but they basically told you too bad so sad, we got our money. Oh ya and enjoy this nice negative. Good day.
Unbelievable
