Picked this up from board member jasonrosej...very excited as it's by far my favorite Barkley card I've ever owned. THe '99 Autographics to me are the best of all the designs...colors just pop. Just wish he had more certified autos.

Nice card! It was under my watch.
One day....

On a side note, I also deal with jasonrosej sometime ago when I won his Magic Johnson Private Signings card. Good seller.

Why is it that Barkley has so few autographs? Does he hate signing or ask too much?

Aww, man - didn't even notice how low the 3rd highest bidder was. My snipe wasn't much higher if I recall so glad I got it...just stinks we drove the price up together (well, not for the seller obviously, ha).

I wish I knew. I also wish I knew the print runs of the few autos he does have. No idea how many '97 or '99 Autographics autos he has, and same with '99 Fresh Ink (next on my list).

Price jumped $300-400 in the last 3 seconds lol.
Ive got the fresh ink and 97-98 auto, looking for the 99-00 next.

The reason for few Barkley autograph cards is that, despite some exceptions, he generally doesn't like to sign anything with his face on it, at least not directly for fans.

Hmmm, that seems like a strange reason to not sign, but to each their own I guess.

I don't believe this one bit. Just go to eBay and you can get PSA/DNA and JSA signed photos all day of Barkley with his face on it. Before Fleer went Bankrupt he even signed a deal for autograph card releases.

Honestly I think he just does not need the money. Same thing for a guy like Duncan who is still playing and has not had an autographed release in years.

Sorry for causing confusion, but my previous post is mainly about "free" autographs (signed directly for fans without getting paid).
If it is about paid autographs like the bold part in your comment (if that is what freethrowtommy is actually referring to), then I agree with you. For the "free" ones though, not yet (even though there are some exceptions, as mentioned in my previous comment - the JSA/PSA certified items that you mentioned might be part of these exceptions too).

I don't have the magazine anymore unfortunately, but Barkley's strange signing habit is once mentioned in an old Beckett article discussing toughest signers in the NBA. There are also many fan reports saying the same thing, so I believe that there is at least some truth to it.
Having said that though, I wouldn't count out the possibility that Barkley has soften his stance lately (which might, again, contribute to the exceptions that I mentioned).
