Did I get screwed on this Topps Redemption?

Hey Everyone,

First Post, but have been reading the site for a couple of months now.:)!:)!

About a week ago I got this Gary Carter Auto in the mail from Topps along with this letter. I've seen another post about Topps Redemptions' and how they're seriously dropping the ball with these. I just hope I don't get screwed on another redemption I'm STILL waiting on which is a Matt Harvey - Autograph Blue Refractor.

What do you think? I was supposed to get a 2012 A&G Guy Bluford Auto but got the Gary Carter Auto instead. Thanks in advance!! GREAT SITE!!

No sure what the other auto would have gotten, but considering how collected the A&G set is, I wouldn't have been happy with it.

The Guy Bluford redemptions were selling for right around $10-$15 when they came out.

I'd take a gary carter any day. stickers have to be drying up and you won't find any new on cards of him, just cuts in the future. I don't know who Guy Bluford but based on the post above mine you made out better or right on. I might have to check the bay if these are going for $10

I got the same replacement...I'm never happy to end up with any sticker autographs, but I don't think we really got screwed.

Guy Bluford was the first African American in Space. I thought the card was cool because it had an historic sense to it.

I just hope Topps doesn't pull this again with the 2013 Allen & Ginter Auto's (when they do come out).

I'm still waiting on autos and relics from 2011 A&G.

This kind of thing is why I stopped chasing A&G auto and relic sets after 2011.

I wouldn't be too thrilled about this. I like Gary Carter and all, but you redeemed for a very particular A&G auto, and it's probably worth more than the Carter sticker auto. Even if it wasn't worth more, it has nothing to do with Gary Carter. I'd return and ask for something else.

I wouldn't want the Carter either. The Bluford is a very cool piece and the Carter is just some card they made up because they needed replacements. I'd send it back.

Im going to call Topps tomorrow and see what can be done. I doubt they will be willing to help me.

Why? That's a fair replacement for a card that is never going to get made. Sure the Bluford would be cool. Would. But it doesn't exist.

Your ~$15 card got replaced by a ~$10 card. That's a win in the replacement game. I know everyone expects a windfall from these things but by the time you do the run around with Topps is it really worth it?
