Since the price of silver has dipped in the low twenties i have been buying extra every week my stash is up over 200 oz and growing

120 eagles
40 or so maples includes some wild life as well
10 pandas
And about 90 in face value 90%

2 rolls of war nickels and 2 rolls of 40 percent kennedys

4 10 oz silvertowne bars
2 5 oz silvertowne bars

Thanks. Except for the one that is upsidedown, the way they came is great. It just folds over itself for nice small storage. The backs are kinda blah but in the light and not the pictures I took they are sweet.

I wish I could just got to SS to buy stuff as I would be there every week for a couple of oz instead of having to buy in bulk and possibly pay a lot extra for shipping (though SS is usually free on ebay)

I finally made another trip to the bullion exchange this morning, just a small buy today.

Added another 1/4 ounce gold Maple, 1 10oz. silver bar and 5 American Silver Eagles. They must have got a new shipment in as every 10oz. bar I'd gotten up to now was A-Mark, but today was NTR. Also, this is the first time I've gotten 2013 Silver Eagles.

The pamp silver and gold have the highest premiums. They also hold there value better. The engelhard older bars and JM also. Bullion to me is whatever melt is going for. I would rather buy CC morgans, three legged buffs, 1922 plains and other key dates over bullion. I do have bullion but mostly Kooks, ML, AE with some of the engelhard's and Pamp gold. My coins/bullion is in the banks SDB.

Coins are government minted and Bars are private minted.
Coins are more widely accepted because people know the coins are probably real unlike some bars they say they are silver are fake or clad and still mislead by stamping 1 OZ Silver Bar instead of Troy OZ for example.

You did say that it was for an investment too right? So why would you NOT care?

While I can understand that you like the look of the 1oz coin... I just can't understand paying a $5 premium on something that you can only resell later at SPOT. No coin dealer in 5 years is going to say.... "Oh wow look here's a perfect 2013 ASE" I'll give you Spot + The Premium you paid on it". No they're most likely going to give you close to spot.

Whereas buying a Silver Panda someone is going to say Oh wow look it's a 2008 panda I'm going to give you a huge premium for that due to it's rarity/500,000 mintage. If you're already paying premiums, why not pay a few bucks more for something that increases in value each year that goes by regardless of the price of Silver

When you are getting great bargains from a Storefront business. Someone took a loss. A CS or PS isn't selling anything way below spot. Normally there is a 15-20% mark up. Something sounds fishy. Like at the flea market when someone brings in a collection to sell to you at your booth. You never seen them before they have no knowledge about coins or value. They tell you they inherited it need cash fast. You have a funny feeling but you say if not me the next guy will buy it. nine times out of ten it was stolen. You even mentioning that they weren't stolen makes it seem like you have suspicions.

I buy on a regular basis rather than just the "dips", but the 2 happened to coincide yesterday.
I got what has become my most common purchase lately, a 1/4 ounce gold maple leaf and a 10 ounce silver bar, but just because I don't have any I also got a 1 ounce silver bar.

The maple leaf was a 1999 with a 20th anniversary privy
The 10 ounce bar was an NTR year of the snake (I rather like this bar)
The 1 ounce was an OPM .9995 bar. The back is interesting on this on this bar, it says made from recycled material.

So unless i trade or sell any cards on this forum i will have 0 feedback. I have dealt with coins for probably more years then you are old and i will leave it at that.

10 oz of silver a month is too much for me since it is a long term investment. Unless you were just holding and selling to avoid getting taxed on interest and whatever else. I would look at putting some of that in a Roth IRA or paying school loans off ASAP. But I mean you have been on here longer than me, so you probably know better. Haha I know nothing about long term investments. I probably should look into a IRA soon. As far as school loans I have none. So all of my income goes to my normal bills and the rest go to personal stuff and investments.

You can enter in almost any type of coin or bullion, total oz of each, total price paid and it will show your gain/loss and DCA. Its worth a download, free at that, for anyone usinf an iphone.

Just got a 1934 texas commemorative 50c graded MS64 for a great price at my local shop. I've been wanting one and was surprised it was less than the cheapest sold on ebay. Very cool coin.

The first issue, struck in 1934 at the Philadelphia Mint, totaled 205,000 coins which sold relatively well at double face-value plus shipping. Yet, at the end of the year, at total of 143,650 pieces remained unsold and were returned to the Philadelphia Mint and melted, leaving a net mintage of 61,350 pieces

The visual test is great, but take it a step further, and get a decent scale, and weigh them.
Silver should weigh 24.59 grams, while the cupronickel will weigh 22.68 grams.

If it's in mediocre shape, drop the thing on a table. Silver is rather "ringy" when it hits something solid.

Went to the monthly coin show today (which always seems to happen after a big spike in silver prices... =\) with $50 just to pick up a couple generic round since there's no point in going without leaving with something! The show was supposed to be 9-3, so I showed up at 1:00 and the place was 75% empty. I've always gone earlier in the past when it was full, so I assumed they all stayed for the whole thing. It must've been an exceptionally slow day though. I was still able to find one guy with a $23 silver rounds box and was able to pull this out of it! I call it a good day!

I see people buying these at flea markets for $3 - $5 each. I think people think they are cool and don't mind spending a few dollars as an impulse buy. As far as investing in them, yea they are a rip off value wise.

Never had a milk spot problem with RCM coins. The tube was sealed, I popped it open and counted the coins with white felt gloves and then put them back in, its locked up in my safe deposit box.

So obvious there was no way I missed it when making the purchase as the tubes were opened and they were counted out in front of me.

Thanks, I actually quite like them. I think I like NTR's yearly lunar bars more (dragon, snake, horse goat), but I like these RCM bars more than the plain generic bars.

I really like this extended period of low prices. When I set my original goal (which I've recently adjusted upward ;)) of 10 oz. of gold and 500 oz. of silver I never thought I'd be so close so fast as I'm at 9 oz. of gold and 400 oz. of silver already.
The biggest plus I've learned from buying gold and silver is how to save. 2 years ago I had no savings at all, but now I have a nice stash of precious metals, a stash of emergency cash and my VISA is half paid off.
When I started I'd get 1 10 oz. bar and/or a 1/4 oz. gold Maple, but as my stack started growing I learned to save and buy larger amounts at one time and now saving has become second nature. I constantly think in terms like: I feel like ordering a pizza, but it would cost the equivalent of an ounce of silver (I still sometimes cave and get the pizza, I'm only human:p)

Market is definitely going lower. We will see $850 gold /$12 silver, if not even lower. But that shouldn't stop you from picking things up with any extra cash. I bought over 100 ozs of silver in the past 2 weeks(including some Tier 1 Engelhard 3 'oz bars), and I feel we are still going to drop. But you can never predict the future so if some catastrophic event happened it is better to buy at these prices then if they doubled.

Found this little guy at a local coin shop. Didn't plan on getting anything, but couldn't pass this up for $128. It's a 1999, but there's some noticeable wear to it and it's removed from it's original bag. Not as bad as the scan looks though. I still like it for my collection.
