Just curious if you've ever seen worse...

Kivlehan base auto
One blue paper of a nobody
two silver ice papers of nobody
Top 100 base of Vogelbach and AJ Cole
two Cream of the Crop minis - Corcino and Gyorko

No chrome color of any kind, not even a regular refractor. No Buxton or Correa, paper or chrome. No Machado or Ryu RCs.

I wish Topps would at least toss in a single-use packet of lube.

I am getting a Jumbo in the mail today along with some loose packs and a box of Gypsy Queen. I WAS super optimistic about it... until I saw your break
Tough luck man, hope next time you kill it!

Jumbos are a much better bet. I went to a crappy little LCS near my office yesterday to scratch the itch. All he had was hobby... or packs of jumbo for $15 a piece.

I swear off wax every time this happens. And then a few days later, there I am again, wasting my money.

Jumbo packs for $15 each...if they are all in the box is a decent deal...

Yeah, not terrible, but it wasn't a fresh box and this guy has singles too. I really only like to buy factory sealed wax.

Yeah my luck with any type of chrome in the past two years has been HORRIBLE. Here's what I've broken

8 Boxes 2012 Draft
2 Boxes 2012 Bowman
1 Box 2011 Draft
2 Boxes 2012 Chrome
1 Box 2013 Bowman

And

8 Boxes 2011 Topps Chrome

In none of those boxes have I hit and auto better than a refractor auto, and have no non auto refractor better than a blue! I have terrible luck so I feel your pain

I was there on Wednesday, almost took the bait on one of the hobby boxes; he quoted (or his son did, I should say) like $92 or something. Andy is better, he'll usually give a good deal, but still, something told me not to.

And the previous visit I did take the bait on a couple of those jumbo packs (for those who can't already tell, the shop doesn't do a ton of volume, so the same boxes/packs can sit around for a bit). Took 4, hit one auto. Nothing crazy, but not touching the rest.

Oh, and then meanwhile I called Kenmore the same day --- their previous $105/$110 boxes of Inception had gone up to $145. I politely said I wouldn't be stopping over to grab any more...... :D

I talked him down to $80. He likes haggling. The key, use cash. He'll go WAY down if you use cash to pay. I got a pair of jumbos off him when they first came out for $250. I don't even bother with Kenmore... That location gets them the tourist market. Prices reflect that. I usually go to Baseball, etc in Newton but I have spent probably $5k there over the years and NEVER hit anything good. I'm starting to think they are less than scrupulous. Sometimes I don't have the patience to wait two days for wax from Blowout.

^ Agree; I usually try to get him down a bit unless he hits me with a solid price, which he does pretty often. How many are left? Two I think. May go at noon today if you wanna combine forces and talk him down to $75 cash on both and we take all be has left :D

At home in the burbs today... Otherwise I'd be there...

I say grab them both. They can't be worse than the one I grabbed already.

Busted one as planned, wasn't terrible, will post results. Think there are two or three left.

Why do people buy boxes and not understand that they may have very little value?

When did uninformed people start changing base cards to "paper" cards. They are not paper. You don't write directions on them, fold them, and put them in your pocket. They are base cards.

You're obviously the one who is uninformed. They are referred to as "blue paper" etc due to the product having Chrome cards as well. You could just leave the forum. Seeing as how you pretty much do nothing but talk down to people trying to act like you're better and smarter then everyone else.

The first Bowman release has included both base and chrome for several years at this point, only recently has anyone called them "paper", which they are not. There are base cards and chrome cards, or non-chrome base cards if you need to be that specific. Paper is the dumbest terminology. I know it's petty, but it's still stupid, and made-up, incorrect terminology. Show me the 1995 Bowman Paper set.

I don't think anyone here thinks of him as anything but a complete loser.

It's amazing how such a small % of people here have any understanding of variance or sample sizes.

I don't even know what you're trying to say, but your post illustrates the fact that you don't even have a loose grip on variance or sample sizes. You could have created math and that fact wouldn't change.

Anyone who brings up a 14 AB sample size as their reference point is only making it clear that they have no grasp whatsoever on sample sizes. This isn't 14 seasons, 14 months, or even 14 games. It's 14 at bats. Three games, if that. Great.

Often times I like to create points of reference and then say how they don't matter.

Is it that hard to check yourself? You obviously know where to look... 2013 Bowman Baseball Jumbo (HTA) Box - $152.95 : Blowout Cards - Sports Cards and Trading Cards Wholesale Online Store (http://www.blowoutcards.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_383&products_id=7454)

OP is the epitome of everything wrong with this hobby/industry.

I can't believe this thread even exists. Some people are fascinating for all the wrong reasons.

Pretty much sums up quite a few of your posts here.

And if I am wrong, please let Topps know, as they don't seem to be aware of the change from base to "paper" cards: 2013 Bowman Baseball Checklist, Set Info, Boxes for Sale, More (http://www.cardboardconnection.com/2013-bowman-baseball-cards)

Careful, if you stress too much in life over "petty" things on a card forum you might have a heart attack before the age of 30.

I won't deny that it's petty, it's always just drove me nuts because it was just a made up term that's just incorrect.

So you'd say blue base to differentiate from blue chrome? Whatever floats your boat man.

And I understand they may have little value. That is why I posted, to share. Most people only show great boxes... Gives others a false sense of the average box.
