Eh guys

I recently agreed to a deal of 20 silver 1 oz eagles 2011 mint for $460 CAN

The seller will drop it at my place tmr. This is my first time buying silver and Im a bit worried if these Might be fakes. Unfortunately I do not have a magnet to test. When he arrives tmr, is there anything I can to test and see if the coins are real? without the need of other objects like magnets, etc

I've heard of a drop test to tell the difference but I haven't tried it. You can also go buy a scale and calipers before he arrives to weigh and check the deminsions. I am new to this myself and haven't been able to test mine as I work out of town, but when I get home I have a scale, calipers and acid test waiting for me with my new purchases. Tho I have heard the acid test can hurt the silver? But I'm not sure.

Just wanted to see if anyone has dealt with wholesalecoinsdirect.com price seems very good at 23.92 for uncirculated eagles. Might buy some but would like to see if they are good. Does it matter that in the description it says no next to certified.

Goto somewhere like Harbor Freight if there is one in your area and buy a large magnet and digital scale and set it to weigh in grams. Do some research on youtube there are videos on how to detect fake silver Eagles. I saw one video where the real and fake looked the same. The guy in video used the drop test you could hear the fake coin was more of a thud and the silver had a nice tone to it when dropped.

I went out and bought some magnets and a scale , not the greatest scale but it will do for now. I'll post some pics when I get the coins, thanks

Do you have an Eagle already? You can compare weights on your scale they should weigh close to the same. I wouldn't do the acid test on coins. Some of the coins may have toning that looks like dirt but toning on silver coins is a plus! Rainbow toned coins people will pay extra to get.

Just got them in :)! Did the ring , magnetic and weight test, everything's perfect - I was a bit worried since this was my first time purchasing silver but went very well :)!

thanks everyone

You need a rare earth magnet. Not some cheap Walmart magnet.
