OK, Thanks to Vinny's suggestion, this looks like a much better option as far as current with some nice hits! (free slot to Vinny for the idea :) )

I liked Vintage Collector's suggestion (and the people that emailed me totally agreed with your idea based on their own personal case breaks of this over the past several months).

8 Box case - ONLY 200 Slots. Works out much better than someone getting a bunch of blah prospects.

$10 each slot - Includes everything

Each pack has 2 autographed cards, 1 Relic or Autographed Relic card, 1 Rookie card & 1 Prospect card.

2 Box loaders per box.

1 dual auto per 8 box case!

After the Baseball Break is done, I'll go for the Football 8 box.

Do the 2 ARODs from 1 loader count as one slot?

Are the boxloaders going to be slots 1/2 from each box, or 31 and 32?

What about (potential) extra cards -- I've pull 34 cards from 1 box of sterling (with boxloaders) (which would give you a few extra slots)

Ok,my math may be off, but I think there have to be 208 slots with this format

48x3 hits=144
48 non hit slots(2 base cards per pack)=48
8 arod packs(1 per box)=8
8 box toppers(1 per box)=8

144+48+8+8=208 slots

Or am I missing something?

People do get anxious with slot picking. Since the cat is out of the bag already I'm not too worried about the people who still need to pay. Their slots are spread out pretty fairly.

A big part of breaks here is that we all honor our commitments and enjoy the event.

It will help next time to have a deadline for payments so we don't have to use our imaginations.

1. Layout the EXACT method as to what Slot 1 will be.. thru Slot 200. Come up NOW w/ how you will decide who gets extra "hits" after Slot 200.

2. Collect payment from everyone (nothing has been written in stone so this should not affect anyone's chances for anything). I'm definitely agreeable w/ a payment deadline and yes I've paid.

it depends on if the extra is base or a hit. All the base from each pack go into one slot.

Hey,
I believe this is true..(Karl confirm or deny). If there is a pack with an extra card, it wouldn't move slots. The only exception may be if it's a Hit and not a base card. If the pack has an extra base card then the Base/Prospect slot from that box would just get an extra card... If it is a hit then I say the person who has the base slot in that box would get it.

What do you think???

Karl -- to throw another wrench at you (duck!) -- you should probably also explicity say...

If it's a 6 card pack (or more than 3 hits) then the base card slot gets the base card + the hits from 4+

In the example I posted --

Young is base
Clemens hit 1
Manzella hit 2
Weeden hit 3
Slowey and Ahrens go to 'base' pile.

You decide along with everyone else. I feel that if there are 5 hits in a box. BASE GETS 1... HIT #4 (IF EXISTS) THEN HIT 5+ is set aside and the next box with the correct # of hits 3 then that base slot person gets the hit #5 from previous box and so on. I was only saying that the base slot should get A hit if more then 3 exist in a particular box, not 2 or more hits. This is the fairest way to do it.

I'm not sure how prevalent the extra cards in the pack is. I busted a case of the stuff, and all of my packs had the right amount of cards. The two cases busted for the first group break of this all had the right amount of cards.

But if there are extra cards, might as well toss'em to the person with the base.:)!

I usually get shorted by Topps. What happens if we dont get extra, and we dont get the right ammount? I am not worried about extra cards. If I ever got an extra card in a pack, there was always another pack missing cards

Vinny, you are correct that the dual autos come in the toppers. Actually, only base cards and refractors (numbered to 199, but not the dual auto refractors) come in the packs. All duals, black refractors, red refractors, and printing plates come in the box toppers.

I didn't set it up. I only took what Karl said was the order Page 12 of how the hits were ordered in each box and combined, side by side with the slot order Page 1 to come up with what each slot most likely will be. This is not guranteed.

Just a quick update -

All original slots paid for (thanks for the promptness) and case is on its way.

Looks like an early next week break and I'll have all of the "Live Break" posts ready with the person's name and everything so all I have to do is enter the card and post.

Looks like we'll have some fun on this and hopefully it will serve as a nice lead in to the 2007 Bowman Sterling football case that I will be doing in a few weeks.

I thought these things were supposed to be for fun and surprise, but it seems like everyone wants to know exactly what they are getting first. I do not care if I get the two base slots like it says, but it would be fun if things got mixed up and those who expected a lot of base got a topper or something. Just my two cents. I have only participated in one other, so you can berate me for my ignorance if you would like.

You are right in a way, but when it was posted, everyone assumed that the second spot is the GU, and it might not be. I just hope there is a little changing to how it all works. I hope Karl throws a curveball with how everything is numbered.

IMHO,
Karl can't (shouldn't) throw any curveballs. Some info may have come out earlier than usual but now that everyone is anxious to rip, we have a system.

Basically the slots (per box) are set after the topper at:
Slot - 1st Hit
Slot - 2nd Hit
Slot - 3rd Hit
Slot - all the base and parallels

If the GU or autos fall differently that's in the mix. Karl should just open each pack the same and start from the top of the pile.

The thing is that I do not remember Karl saying anything about the order that he will open the packs. Many on here just decided how he is going to do it. That is what I have been saying. Sorry, but it just kinda rubbed me the wrong way when everyone else seemed so eager to know what they were getting. I would like to be surprised a little bit.

Got a bunch of emails with a lot of confusion involved. Its not really too tough to figure this one out. Basically, there are 4 slots per pack and I'll reference Vinny's post a few above mine for how the slots fall. Regardless of the order of the cards in the pack, the first hit is slot 1, the second hit is slot 2, the third hit is slot 3 and the two rookie & prospect cards are slot 4. If I remember correctly, there are a bunch of parallels with the rookie and prospect cards, so those slots aren't anything to poop too heavily on.

As far as an extra hit in the pack goes? Really easy, it will go to the 4th slot in the pack UNLESS there is a pack with fewer cards (not too probable, but someone asked). So that slot 4 might be a prospect and the 4th auto/gu in the pack.

Looks like the case will be here Tuesday, so Tuesday night looks like the tentative break and everything will be shipped out no later than first thing 2 days after the break...I'm going to bust my butt to get everything out the next day.

Would I love to see one or two of my six base slots turn into autos. Definitely. However, based on seeing a bunch of this ripped, chances of that happening are slim to none.

My understanding is that Karl was getting the case today and ripping it later tonight.
