View Full Version : How come a lot of people don't follow eBay's presale listing policy?

Bought an item that doesn't list until early October (normally wouldn't do this but wanted to use my 10% off coupon), and the seller uploaded a fake tracking today though it doesn't ship until, like I said, October.

Got me curious about the presale policy and two things stood out:

"Guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the purchase date. Be sure to clearly state this information in your listing."

"The handling time specified in your listing should reflect the time from the end of the listing until the item is shipped to the buyer—not the time the item is in your possession. Be sure to specify the correct handling time in your listing."

Literally no sellers do this....

Stay far away from presales on eBay. I preordered a $400 box of 2012 Five Star Baseball a few weeks prior to the release date. I figured I would be good and made sure the guy had positive feedback (100% w/200+ sales). Unfortunately the release date was pushed back a few weeks on this product which put the release passed eBay's 45 day Buyers Protection window. This guy took advantage of this and his feedback started spiraling down shortly after the 45 day mark from everybody's original purchases. He never shipped out any of the presales and probably made out over $8K. I contacted eBay about a refund, but they did nothing to help me. eBay shouldn't allow people to do presales since it violates there policy in the first place (You must ensure the items you're offering are in stock for the duration of the listing and are delivered to the buyer). Don't list an item for sale if you don't have the product in hand to ship it out. I won't every be dealing with presales on eBay again. Lesson learned late last year.

Yeah, I never buy sealed boxes on ebay. Always do them through a respected dealer like Blowoutcards.

Bought 4 boxes or so of a base Topps product from ebay one year on release. Supposed to be shipped to me on release date. So a month later, no boxes. Come to find out...The seller had ripped my boxes, flipped them for a profit, than bought another case & shipped me 4 boxes from that a month later.

Ever since then my box breaking days on ebay are done.

Seems the guy has a high-volume store online and off-line so everything's okay, product ships in ~39 days or so, so I plan on filing a claim around day 42 regardless just to be safe.

Wish I had something else to use the 10% coupon for.

Could just be pre printing all the lables they need.

Hope it goes well for you.
