He seriously can't give Castellanos a start? I've heard that he doesn't usually like to start rookies over other players who have been more established but I didn't realize Castellanos wouldn't be starting for a while because I figured what I heard wasn't so true...

There hasn't been a LHP starter yet. He's not going to play over Dirks.

It's his second day in the Majors and you're already complaining?

Too bad he wasn't playing some occasional 3rd base while in Toledo this year, he could have started over Don Kelly while Miggy is out. Don't see them playing him there if he hasn't played the position all year. Regarding starting in the outfield, I think Leyland reads to much into the righty/lefty match up game. If the kid can hit give him a chance against righty or lefties.

Lypical Blowout response.

I'm pretty sure just yesterday Kelly played CF and Dirks played RF and then in the middle of the game Castellanos pinch hit for Kelly and Dirks moved to center so I'm not sure if he would have played more if at third because Kelly was already playing while he was not and could have easily been...

I don't the I've ever seen a manager make decisions on the righty lefty matchups more than Leyland
He's pinch hit Dirks for a 3 for 3 Tuiososopo this year just because their ought in a righty reliver, pathetic

I was going to say the same thing. It really makes no sense. I am looking forward to the day Leyland is not the Tigers' manager anymore. They've had some success recently, but that's not saying much with the team he's had the last few years. I think a football coach could manage the Tigers into the playoffs with the roster they have.

At least a football coach has experience managing! I think you or I could manage them into the playoffs!

Ok then, what I should have said is it would have been interesting if he played 3rd base while Cabrera was out in place of Kelly or Santiago. I didn't watch Sundays game so didn't know if Kelly or Santiago played 3rd.

Tigers are .5 games away from the best record in the AL and you are upset cause he wont play a recent September call up?

Incorrect. I am upset because they won't play an August 31st call up. Besides, I don't think he would be a downgrade from what they play out there in left anyways...

As long as we can keep our heads above water as we seem to be, I don't care if Castellanos gets unglued from the bench till spring training.

I'm not a Tigers fan so I just want to see Casty play...But I am a Red Sox fan and I was hoping he would get in the lineup today and do something with the bat against us. I mean Lester is going to get hit around by the Tigers lineup anyways so why not have Castellanos inflicting some Damage? :D
