Hey guys, I'm in need of a bit of advice.

I've got a card listed at the minute that someone bid on earlier today. I've just
received a message from them via eBay saying the following:

Dear chiefwigs1982,

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW YOUR AUCTION WORKS, I BID xx DOLLARS BUT IT TOOK IT AS xx OF YOUR POUNDS WHICH COMES OUT TO OVER xxx DOLLARS. IN 15 YEARS ON EBAY THIS IS THE FIRST I HAVE EVER SEEN AN AUCTION LIKE THIS. ANYWAYS, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY RUN YOUR AUCTION IN DOLLARS IF YOU ARE ON AN AMERICAN SITE. I WILL NOT BID OVER xx DOLLARS, JUST A HEADS UP, REMOVE THE BID IF YOU WANT.

Here's the auction:

Blake Griffin 38 2012 13 Signatures Green Base Parallel 1 5 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/390656649875)

I've run hundreds of auctions that all appear on ebay.com, and I've never had
anyone have an issue with them. As far as I know, there's nothing I can do
about the currency when I make a listing - eBay handles the conversion and
shows the value in both the original and the local currency automatically.

Is this guy just being a numpty, or is there actually something wrong with my
auction? It's set up the same way I always set them up, so if there is a
problem, I'd like to get it sorted!

Thanks for looking...

Nothing wrong with your listing, just cancel his bid. When he entered the bid, he thought it was in US Dollars.

As far as currency selection, you have the option to list in USD. But if you never had problems listing international auctions in Pounds before, just keep doing it.

Cheers mate.

He's just cancelled his bid anyway. Not sure why - he was the only bidder
so his current bid was still under what he said was the max he'd pay, so
he'd probably have won the card for less than he wanted anyway.

Oh well, welcome to the block list!

Back to the currency thing - I don't see an option to post in USD. I list
my items on ebay.co.uk, and I have to pay a couple of extra pennies to
make the item visible on ebay.com and ebay.ca - that's the only way it
works that I know of...

he must of thought he should enter the dollar amount he wanted to bid rather than pounds, but realized that the amount is higher than he wanted when he saw it was converted from pounds to dollars. i think he made an accidental mistake.

your listing is fine.

Things must be different on eBay UK then. I always list on eBay.ca and listing in USD is free (I use the Sell Your Item form). Offering a shipping service to the US is also free.
