part 1 in a 4 part series to run the remainder of the week:

Sports Illustrated's series on Oklahoma St. football: The Money - College Football - SI.com (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20130910/oklahoma-state-part-1-money/?sct=hp_t11_a2&eref=sihp)

This is very interesting. I am in Oklahoma City and the local sports radio are in full spin control, saying that the players listed are all disgruntled and mad at the school, and that one of the writers, Thayer Evans, is a Sooner who hates the Cowboys. Unfortunately for the Pokes, I think they are in for some major trouble, I would guess that the story is somewhere around 75-85 % accurate. The SI writers would not put their career on the line if they did not believe their story was accurate. One of the lead writers of the story is a former Pulitzer Award winner, I doubt he would put his job on the line to take down OSU.

I live in Tulsa, and can't wait to turn on the Sports Animal later today after work. This is about to get wild. However, probably not on the same level as the SMU teams from the 80s.

who cares... knowing the way the NCAA operates, they may just have to sit out for a half of a game or something like that...

Nobody cared when they sucked.

Typical NCAA, when a team gets good the dirt starts coming out.

Does anyone know why they picked OSU? I don't follow all the violations too closely, were they already in trouble or is this coming out of the blue now that SI dropped this story?

One of the most sneaky ways I saw players getting paid was at Penn State back in 2004-2006 when I went to school there.

I worked at Best Buy and they would constantly be coming in with $500 best buy gift cards and loading up on gear. <- On second thought maybe that was hush money and not pay for play  Either way it was funny seeing.

Let's not act like this writer's job is on the line if the story doesn't pan out. The reason it is running is because he is an award winner and this story is too juicy to pass up not running. If it is even 10% correct he will be applauded. Just like the two guys that "investigated" Barry Bonds forever and they both ended up with jobs at ESPN, even though their reports were never proven factual.

Close but not quite. The NCAA has their favored schools (translated - the universities that bring in the most money). If you are one of the favored, you will only receive a slap on the wrist.

However, if you are mid-tier team (such as Oklahoma State), the NCAA will come down hard on them to show that they still have some juice.

The NCAA is a freaking joke. Always has been. Always will be.

Worst part is that if this happened on Les Miles' watch, shouldn't he be punished along with the school?

What i'm finding comical is people are saying it was all Les Miles and are forgetting that Gundy was there starting in 2001 as OC; if this stuff was going on there's no way he didn't know about it
