Nightmare shipping situation...

So, I send in a package to BGS for grading. Fully insured. Cam Chrome auto, kaep chrome refractor auto, rodgers contenders.

Get a message from their operations manager saying that this is how the box showed up (see pics). The guy said the Cam is badly creased now but the others "look fine."

Question is how can i file a partial claim? And seriously, what the #@#@#@#@ HAPPENED TO THAT BOX?!?!?! Did someone try to have sex with it?!?

Update: Nope. All of em are damaged. Fml...

Update 2: Claim successful for 1150. offering all three cards back for 230. trying to just get the kaep and the rodgers

The good news is that it looks like you shipped the package via UPS. They are a private company and since you fully insured the package you should be more than fine. Also, are those pictures you attached from BGS sent to you? Showing that BGS received the package as it is shown in pictures. That will hold a lot of water with the company, especially when you tell the you had a couple grand worth of product in that box.

I have heard HORROR stories about this kind of thing happening with the Postal Service. However, the postal service is the federal government and they well F you over in a heart beat.

I am not sure, but UPS is a PITA when it comes to insurance if I remember someone here saying. I use click n ship an always send to BGS overnight. UPS Ground is not a good way to ship to Beckett IMO, to many people touching package and it gets tossed around a good bit in the truck

I'll ping the BGS guy about the grades for a basis of comparison. On the otherhand, it would kill me to find out if i got jobbed out of high grades....

the package was fully insured for $1200, (Rodgers 700, Kaep 300, Cam 200), so i dont think the value will get questioned to much. The beckett guys even gave me their "book value" which could be easily taken as an objective market assessment by UPS (they don't know better, right?).

Claim has been filed, so stay tuned....

so they have picked up the package from BGS. They haven't made it clear whether or not they're going to give the cards back to me or not. I can prove "value" by what I paid for the Kaep and the Rodgers, which isn't ideal in that I think both had shots to get 9s or better so i'm losing prospective value, but I dont think I can reasonably argue that. The

Cam might be tricky since I traded for it. I traded a Megatron SPA for the cam and $30, but only have a receipt for the $30. We'll see. I feel like they might F me on that, even though the beckett value that BGS gave for free was for 170-250 and im asking for the middle.

Anyway, anyone know if they'll give me the cards back or will they keep them?

Woohoo! Claim filed in my favor. They are saying 1150 will come back to me, and for $230 I can get all three cards back. Am going to try to just get the kaepernick and rodgers for 150, and stick them with the cam.

glad to hear it worked out for you , do you have a phone # or person you contacted at Beckett for this , as I am similar boat with my last order from Beckett where my cam Newton came back like this , unsure on how a case gets this damaged directly from Beckett ??

notice big chunk of plastic missing on top of case above Cam's head , the other 15 card sin order was all fine and not one case had any damage at all so for this one to have this much makes me wonder ??lol

funny you say that as there was a tiny bit of said team bag the cam was in , but for the most part it looks as if it was done during the slabbing part and then overlooked when put into my order an shipped to me ,as the other 14 cards was perfect ?? Weird and discomforting hearing some horror stories about things like this from Beckett. The fact they ( Beckett ) pays a insurance claim and then sell the damaged card is real shady in my opinion , I have heard that this has happen a few times , also there is another story on here that a insurance claim was paid by Beckett and they are offering to sell the claimer the cards back for 25% of the claim ??

I fought UPS for six months over a speaker they destroyed. I lost my claim and every appeal and then they wouldn't even return the damaged speaker to me.

When an insurer pays a claim they are basically purchasing the assets from you. At that point the insurer now owns the assets and they can do as they please with them. I'm unsure if UPS, USPS, Fedex operate their own insurance finance, subcontract it out or purchase it on your behalf.

Car Insurance companies do the exact same thing. THey will call your car a total loss and send you a check, but you can turn around and purchase the same car back from them.

Ginger, I think our cases are a bit different (I think?). My package arrived at BGS already damaged, so the insurance claim was entirely on UPS. So that's who I was dealing with. I actually still haven't gotten the money or cards back, but they say I will.

I think you can send a damaged slab back to Beckett - at your own expense of course - and have them re-slab it, but that's the extent that they'll handle it. If you think it was the carrier, then you have to take it up with them. Which is way, way worse. In your claim you can ask beckett to make a statement on your behalf, which always helps, but that would essentially absolve them from any precieved wrong doing.

Email/call them up if they'll reslab it. it's worth the few bucks to re-send it versus the unmitigated ass ache of dealing with an insurance claim.
