Apparently if you say you'll file a dispute if payment isn't received, its now against ebay policy!:rolleyes:

Look what just came up when I tried to revise an item of mine...

Oops!

A listing can't include statements about the possible penalties for not paying. For example, you can't say things like, "You'll be given an unpaid item strike, restriction, or suspension if you don't pay." This kind of information is unpleasant and unprofessional and may discourage people from buying your item.

Please edit your listing, making make sure there's no mention of any possible penalties. If there is, you won't be able to list your item. You could also lose your Top-rated seller status

Wonderful. Pretty soon it will be against ebay policy to make the buyer pay before you ship the item out. What a joke.

Its also against Roberts policy to list on ebay :)

I so can't wait for ebay to give me another seller status phone call...for once I'd like to be home to get that phone. To bad I'm going to end up talking to some kid just trying to earn a few bucks rather than someone that could give a *** and make a difference!

I'm not worried about people being discouraged to buy my items. Getting paid is the difficult part of the transaction. More restrictions for the sellers and no penalties for deadbeat buyers.

This is a load! How can they go against there own policy on something like this. If buyers aren't aware that "negative" actions can be taken against them for not finishing their part of the deal, they shouldn't be on ebay to begin with.

Plus, how is it unprofessional. It's no different than a disclaimer from a business!

Exactly.

"This kind of information is unpleasant..."

Yep, you bet.

"...and unprofessional..."

No, its really not. At all.

"...and may discourage people from buying your item."

Uh, yeah, thats the point.

If stating up front that I will file a dispute after 7 days of non-payment scares a buyer away then the statement did exactly what I wanted it to. I would rather a potential buyer that may not be able to pay within 7 days simply not bid than to deal with an open transaction for a month.

Seriously, who is running ebay these days? Could we get one person in upper management there that at least has a shred of common sense?!?
