Hey everyone,
I decided to take the night off from reading for my Ph.D. classes to update my Excel spreadsheet with my inventory. So I thought I would ask if anyone else is as crazy as me to inventory how many books you have and how much money you have spent.
Thus far, I have 2,297 comic books INCLUDING 143 graded CGC books with all books being either 9.8, 9.9, or 10.0  :flex:
These numbers are not so bad, since I have only been collecting since June 2012.
What about the rest of you?????
Don't be embarrassed to admit your numbers....
Let's try to keep this thread alive and well and input thresholds when we surpass them...

Everything I own will likely fit in a long box:p Though, I am more about quality over quantity.

Don't know, never counted them.. Too many to count, and I'm trying to get rid of some of them, and they're going cheap! (http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/comic-buy-sell-trade/580885-indys-extra-9-8s-up-auction.html)

I have no idea. :P
I can tell you this: I have 34 long boxes in my office, and probably double that in storage.
The ones in my office are either the valuable ones or the ones I'm currently collecting/reading. The ones in storage are older series books that I've either completed or lost interest in.

I've up to 1 short box plus another 20 or so books and 1 slab. My wife has half a short box. We just started collecting about 2 or so months ago.

Impressive numbers everyone so far! Since the start of this thread about three months ago, I think I have added another like 60 graded books, yikes! Raw books, who knows, as I am behind like crazy!

Same here...
Although I have about 1/2 a short box full, I pride myself on collecting great quality pieces.

well I've been into comics now for all of a month and a half so I have but a pittance compared to most of you I'm sure, lol. I have about 65 raw comics that I've read and inventoried and probably another 50 or so that are in my stack waiting to be read. Then for graded books I have 7 in hand, 1 sent to CGC for re-holdering, 4 on order from Indy and 3 incoming from ebay :) so far everything is 9.8 (except the ones from Indy cuz I dunno what those are gonna be yet), and a handful of them are signed.

I'm in the same boat. I have about two long boxes worth but have nearly all pretty good issues/runs (in terms of value).

Too many :p
One long box and 5 short boxes. And then maybe around 10+ graded books? Then, there's my awesome 90s collection at my parents house. :special:
I'm thinking I need to organize and take pics of my collection and put them online. Organize by CGC books, sketches, autos, variants, MLP, etc.

I have bags of books from the LCS that I have not even had the chance to look at yet. It's starting to be a problem because I'll forget what I have and buy the same books several times.

Personal? 1 & 1/4 short boxes. TWD #100 was the first comic book I ever bought in summer 2012. I really only order through Midtown Comics previews, so I never get repeats. And I sell series I can break even in that I didn't like (Polarity #1-4, Pretty Deadly #1, Dexter #1-5).
eBay? 2 & 1/2 short boxes. A box are all the PP #11 I got for free, another box is everything that is listed, and the last half are long term thinking or laziness in listing them.
I only have one graded issue right now I think. TWD #53 CGC 9.8.
I also have 1 print for personal and 7 or 8 prints that I am selling.
I'm not really big on collecting anything. I'm more into money and math.

6 ÷ 2(1+2) ≠ 6 / 2(1+2)
One way is 1 and the other way is 9.

Estimate 50 short boxes. 30 long.
That's after three fires. One flood. And thieving tenants. Unluckiest house ever.

Hmm not good luck then. I'd probably move the best keys to a short box or safety deposit box in case you gotta get out fast.

I was lucky in the first fire (1980). I never kept first appearances with the rest of the books. For example I no longer have "the Secret Wars" they burned but I had issue 8 in a different place. So I still have that one. The tenants were the worst. They decide to have a garage sale while I was at work. Classic issues gone for fifty cents. That's when I gave up collecting cards.

6 ÷ 2(1+2) ≠ 6 / 2(1+2)
One way is 1 and the other way is 9.
:flex:
I think I get what you're saying but you didn't present it very well as the two equations you wrote up there are essentially identical. I think you'd almost have to add some parenthesis in order to make it clear what you were trying to say.
(6/2)(1+2) = 9
6/(2(1+2)) = 1
however...since those parenthesis are not present in the original problem, the correct order of operations (PEMDAS) would be to first take the (1+2) which is 3, then multiply it by 2, then divide 6 by that quantity which would give you an answer of 1.
and damn you George for opening THAT can of worms!

Hah this is actually a common debate. ÷ is suppose to represent a fraction, so you do the top half together and the bottom half together. / is suppose to represent division, so that's where order of operations come first. Unless I got it backwards now.

so in true comic book fashion, I'll just make it simpler for everyone by drawing a picture :D

now...whether the ÷ indicates you should do it like the first example or the last one...I dunno lol.

Hot Damn!! In September I had 143 graded books and did a tally last night and now I am at 250 since June 2012. That means that I gained 107 books since September...
Updates from anyone????

well I don't think I've made quite as much progress as George has, lol. Right now I'm sitting on 2 full short boxes of comics that I've read, another two dozen or so in my older raw and variants box and 30 or 40 just random issues that I've picked up for one reason or another. Slabs I think I'm sitting around 33 or so right now. so I'm making some progress, lol.

Real question, how do you sell long boxes full of stuff like Civil War and Blackest night books? Are there dealers buying by the pound out there?
