i kind of agree with this. the UD Black break was pretty underwelming for me for that reason.

also, you may as well open it. if you sell it you are risking major headaches if part of the packaging gets ripped or something in transit or if someone sees something they just think is "funny" about it - even if you are being completely honest on your end of the deal.

best case? you hit a monster card. worst case? you get a michael beasley redemption as your box hit but still were one of the last to open 08-09 exquisite.

A noble nameplates jumbo logo jersey auto of David Noel (hypothetically) is no less as beautiful than a Michael Jordan from the same set. They both have the same design. But of course Noel will be less 'desirable' because of his name...I think that is overtly obvious...and holds true for any baseball card/set made in the history of mankind (obviously the player on the card dictates it's value relative to others in the set).

I cant believe im going to go through this and explain it to you as that hairy guy is just trolling for a fight at every corner we turn.

Tristan had comment that nothing comes close from Panini. I made a comment to reference that comment in saying that the reason why certain people dont believe panini puts out anything close is because their subjective view of MJ and Lebron. Those two player autos can easily turn any set into a winning set just from stardom alone. The card wouldnt have to even look great. It could be a piece of dump but having MJ auto in the set would turn it into a highly collectable set.

From there hairy takes off on a journey through the mountains picking up cherries and rebutting comments that he cant comprehend. I then state that design on the any card is a subjective matter that just because you find it to be good looking doesnt mean that someone else does and vice versa. But that theory goes out the window when you talking UD lemmings. They cannot handle the fact that everyone has different tastes. Instead they get frustrated and start telling themselves that ONLY UD cards can be good and that there is noway in this world that any card could ever be better than their UD cards. So instead of taking up my challenge to show that there instances where Panini cards looks better, sell better and have the same dump players on checklist, they choose to fight instead and knock my character. Thats exactly what cowards do when they fight. Thats called leg sweeping. WHen you cant win a debate fair and square you sweep the legs with jabs at character.

I still challenge you. I challenge a few people in this thread that have stated that Panini cannot make anything on the level of UD. I can easily discount that comment with a subjective opinion. But it wouldnt matter because when UD fanboys have their mindset stuck on "Only UD can ever be best" you cant debate with that.

The David Noel example was based on player quality deceiving people into thinking a set is not successful because its not designed well, well in reality is the quality of players that is killing the set itself.

Like I stated, put MJ or a lebron auto/path into most sets and they would be deemed a good looking set. Too bad some are in denial of that.

I personally think the players have nothing to do with the design so that argument was quite weak to me. I mean Panini has Kobe and Durant and sure aren't producing their products anywhere near what UD was at times. Players don't make the cards beautiful.

Forget Exquisite and National Treasures for a second. Look at releases like Chronology, Premier, SPX, SP Authentic, Glass, Finite, SP Game Used, etc. Panini doesn't have anything in that stratosphere but they charge you like they do.

But if given the circumtances of ebay that you could snug a Magic, bird, kareem,

Autos for $20-25 I will click that button.

Its very simple buy what you like, and could afford, and are willing to risk

Can't make panini guys love exquisite and vice versa. Everyone has their own preferences.

I, personally, don't own any exquisite cards, but in my eyes they (when they had their nba license) were the best looking 'elite' cards made. The only year national treasures came close to me was Blake Griffin's rookie year (09-10 I believe?). This years was pretty nice as well. But the way UD integrated extensive use of gold and silver foil with crisp/bold colors to me made them the best of the 'flagship' cards. Panini has made other gorgeous 'non flagship' cards, however, like Silo's.

And I think you'd be hard pressed to argue that panini didn't derive inspiration from them...after all, NT and Flawless are nothing but extensions of Exquisite...and UD originated the 'handful of hand-packed, super thick stock cards' concept. All I hope is that Panini will continue to evolve and offer 'better' product as the years go on. Really that's all you can ask as a collector...but I have learned to steer clear of wax and focus solely on singles.

I agree. Panini makes some nice cards. They make some good "clean" cards if you will like the Silhouettes. Exquisite had more eye popping cards in my opinion.

You're missing my point. I'm not saying that Panini has put out a bunch of cards that rival Exquisite. What I'm saying is that if Panini put out that exact Exquisite card, people wouldn't say its amazing, people would nitpick everything on it. You can't tell me they wouldn't because they would. I don't have an issue with you, you actually seem like a good dude. I do take issue with people nitpicking things about one company and then completely ignoring things about another company. You guys constantly trash every Panini product they put out, yet ignore all the garbage products UD has put out. Every UD product had foil? All on card autos? Then why bring that up as a point against Panini? That's all I'm saying.

Majority of the products Panini puts out have a lot left to be desired. They put out products that have a chance to be really great and they often miss the boat. But UD put out a lot of crap products in their day. They had the worst customer service I have ever seen and they were an extremely shady company. They also introduced exclusive contracts, which pretty much ruined the basketball market for other companies. As you said, Panini has shown improvement in quality (foil, on card autos), actually listening to collectors, and improving their customer service. That's way more than UD had ever did, but yet, they still don't even stand a chance in your book or a lot of people's book strictly because of the company not the product they put out.

If he honestly wants us to believe that he buys all of his cards on his own at the young age of 12 or 15 (whatever he is) then he shouldn't have shown us the box full of nothing but MJ, Kobe, LeBron, Irving, and Rose Autos and then the entire room full of National Treasures boxes. Must have been 20 of them stacked up. Not to mention the 2008-09 Exquisite case he claims to have.

I'm sorry, but no kid can even begin to afford a collection that nice. If your mom and pop buy your cards, that's fine, but don't lie about it when asked if they do. It's not every day that a kid your age pops up with a collection of cards and sealed boxes this nice. It's actually pretty amazing.

I really just wanted conversation about what could still be left, whether anyone would honestly bust it if it was theirs or just sell it or wait til the season and sell etc.

On the 1st page you get about 5 people saying BUST IT which is fine and expected because even though that adds nothing to the thread and there is no reasons supporting it that is the ultimate question.

But then there becomes name calling, arguing, stupid points, stupid counter points etc. It's ridiculous. I have actually been in threads where there is good back and forth and arguing respectfully can be ok and even fun, but this serves no purpose.

Some people on here really need to take a long look at themselves. If you just got caught up in the drama, and you rarely do that, fine, it happens. But if you are really going out of your way to "troll" (that shouldn't even exist) or work people up on a forum, you need to get a life. And if this post offends anyone, I'm probably talking to you.

I didn't start collecting until I was 17 years old, and had a job. I started off collecting Luol Deng and Ben Gordon, not Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Kyrie, Rose, etc like this kid. Haha. His collection is incredible!

I didn't get my first Jordan Auto until I was over 20 years of age, and bought it with my own money. I didn't open a single box of cards until I was over 20 years old, and paid for it with my own money. This kid has a stack of National Treasures cases up to his waist. I've opened 1 Exquisite case my entire life and bought them with my own money and was fortunate enough to pull a MJ Number Pieces /23.

For the record, I think most of us are just curious. I am not jealous..haha. It's just that not everyday a young kid pops up with a collection like this. It's the best collection I have ever seen a kid this age have. No one is name calling. If anything we're stunned at how amazing his collection is. He should take this as a positive.
