So I had quite a few auctions close yesterday. I appreciate the bids from BO members and Youtubers.
I got the following message pretty quickly once the dust settled.

i wanted to win this item along with other ones you had offered...for some reason you have a limit on the amount of items a person can win from you per day?? since ebay is not allowing me to win this item from you, which is the only one i wanted to really win initially, please cancel all of the winning bids i had on your other items i won because without this konerko card i dont really want any of them. future reference, you might want to lift limits like that, it hurts buyers like me wanting to get alot from you.

Now, I do have a limit on buyers. It's something I put into place after hearing some horror stories from Japanese sellers at my semi-local card show.
The guy above put in low bids for two cards and won them for a couple bucks. Not bad cards, IMO. With the combined shipping, I think it's a pretty good deal. Anyhow, after not being able to bid on the Konerko he now wants to just cancel the ones that he won.
The thing that irks me (aside from the entire message being in lower case letters) is that the guy is an Ebay veteran (13 years) and has close to 6000 feedback. You'd figure that he'd follow the rules.
I'm not really interested in selling the cards to him. I just cancelled the transactions and he agreed. Case closed. I wasn't interested in putting up a fight because there are too many clowns out there that'll just neg me because they couldn't have it their way.

On the plus side, at least he shot me a message. I'm assuming that MOST wouldn't even give you the decency of a notice.

Do you all think I'm at fault for not openly stating that I have a buyer limit?
Also, does this eat up two (he requested cancellation on 2 items won) of my 50 free listings per month?

Sorry folks, just wanted to share and vent a little.

I think a 'heads up' would have been appropriate but still, so he didn't win that one card - he can find it again somewhere and fulfill his wants. Kind of a "I'm taking my ball and going home" whine.

I think you did the right thing here and cancelled the transaction. The buyer seemed straight with you and the only way he would have known about your buyer restriction in the first place was if he tried to bid on that Konerko like he wanted. I would definitely say in the future that you list on your auctions that you only allow a buyer to bid on two items a day so that way everyone is clear on it. Maybe even put it between *** like ***Please be aware before bidding that per ebay buyer restrictions on my auctions a buyer can only win 2 items per day*** or something to that affect. I know that I have bid on some smaller dollar cards along with one or two major cards from a seller with the intention to save on shipping. Of course, there is no guaranty you win the higher dollar cards and you might get stuck with the lower dollar cards, but in this case the guy didnt even get the chance to win the other card. If he had just lost the Konerko in a real bid war and then want to cancel I would say no dice, but in this case he is more than justified.

Also for future reference I would probably recommend listing your higher dollar cards before the lower dollar cards. That way people will bid on the higher dollar ones they want and then if they win they may throw in a bid on a lower dollar card. If you list the lower dollar ones first they may not get bids because someone doesnt want to buy a low dollar card unless they know for sure they have already won the higher dollar card they really want. I have squeezed out a few extra dollars in the past by seeing people throw bids in on my small dollar cards after they already won one of my higher dollar ones

Bump to top - this eBay member won two auctions from me on March 3rd. I opened a case on Wednesday March 9th, still no communication and no payment. I would recommend adding to blocked list.

You probably did the best thing to avoid hassles, but you limit buyers to two items? What can possibly be a good reason for that?

I still believe, although I don't sell and have no facts to back this up, that the buyer horror stories are few and far enough between so as not to warrant sellers running so scared. I get that ebay has put things in place to favor buyers of late, but it is a cost of doing business on a larger scale and buyers do stand to be hurt the easiest in general. They are sending money to strangers for an item that is briefly and sometimes poorly described and photographed in hopes that they will get what they believe they bought.

I often find an item in a search and then check out that sellers other items to see if I can combine purchases. I hate paying $3 or more to ship one card so it makes me feel better to buy more cards just to feel like I didn't get the shaft on shipping. it seems odd to some, but if that seller has something else that I would buy at a decent price, then it make a great deal of sense.
