Just busted a box. Pulled a Emotion so it's nice getting an extra card. The base sketch of Red Hulk by Scott Cohn is nice.

He did all the emotions booklets.

I dig the Black Widow, despite it being a hinged sketch. Still not diggin' the hinged sketches even after a year.

Thanks. The Black Widow is nicely done :)

too expensive to break IMO @ $400+ per pack

If you can afford to buy it, you can afford to break it!

Outta my price range though. Even at $200/box, this was overpriced in my opinion. I know I'm the only one that thinks that, but a years worth of breaks haven't changed my opinion. Glad I just picked up singles.

No, you're not! When I was able to grab my case of this last year, it was because it finally got outside the UD 'blackout' range at my distributor. People wouldn't touch it at distributor pricing which, if I recall correctly, was about $190/box. I was hesitant at that price and spent a week thinking about it. Granted, I did very well with my case but I am not crazy enough to think there wasn't luck involved.

There is absolutely no way you get even 50% back on a case at this point. You may get very lucky with a box, but at the case level, these prices are absurd. Kind of the reverse of the norm. Most instances you'd think the case is the way to go but I'd have to disagree at this price level.

How would you know tho without doing so? A quick look today show a ton of huge sales:
I mean, look at these inserts. These aren't even the sketches, just inserts:

Dark Avengers The Avengers SP 2012 Upper Deck Marvel Premier S9 Wolverine | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dark-Avengers-The-Avengers-SP-2012-Upper-Deck-Marvel-Premier-S9-Wolverine-/390672375479?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5af5e35eb7)

Or this one:

Moon Knight Bushman Shadowbox SP 2012 Upper Deck Marvel Premier S30 Shadow Box | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moon-Knight-Bushman-Shadowbox-SP-2012-Upper-Deck-Marvel-Premier-S30-Shadow-box-/390671184664?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5af5d13318)

Both of those ended at terrible times in regular auction as well, meaning put up in BIN scenarios, I bet you'd get even more.

I'm not justifying prices as I didn't buy any of this last year either, AND I thought Marvel Fleer was a bit pricey. But BOY was I wrong after seeing single sales.

Simple truth is I believe most of these collectors are sports guys who don't mind at all spending this kind of money. They swim in the deep end of the pool and probably make a great living, so if they're having fun with it what's the harm? Way too many comments lately bash guys like this, and their spending. I think it's healthy for NEW money to enter the non-sports cards IMO.

I wasn't bashing anybody on their spending. I just paid $750 for two boxes of 2004 football cards last weekend. Was just saying, from experience of breaking a case and seemingly doing very well at the time, I'd have struggled to break even at the current price points. That's saying a lot when my case had a Jusko and a bunch of other really great sketches.

The boxes and cases are up because singles sell a lot better. I already recouped 1/3 of the book just off the Emotion booklet. It's just like anything you break. Just different price level but most % are the same.

Even the base cards seem to sell way better than someone would expect. After looking at some eBay prices on singles Premier still seems to be an ok break.

I had a chance to get them at $170 on pre-order but I didn't. what a big mistake when I seen single cards that are not even a sketch selling large amount. :(

P.S I still dislike the hinged sketches! but the art on them are nice by those awesome artists
