Went to the Syracuse show today and only picked up one item. The selection wasn't the greatest and asking prices were even worse.
Paid $25 for the Fernandez. Not a great price, not a horrible price. But the card in in magnificent condition.

Yea, high end and vintage customers were the target customers.

This was this first Syracuse show that I only spent $9 on singles. Brought $500 with me and only $9 was worth spending. Everyone was much higher than eBay and not willing to deal. I ended up buying 3 boxes of Bowman chrome and 2 boxes of Topps chrome. Didn't get anything good. Oh well, there will be another!

Oh and yes I agree. Vintage was the theme today. I love the stuff and wish I was educated on it. But my lack of knowledge would have shown quickly and I would have been taken to the cleaners!!

Vintage may have been the most for sale, but I went looking for some vintage and it's the same selection from the same dealers that are at most of the upstate NY shows. They don't seem to get any new inventory either. The one guy does with all the early 1900's stuff but his stuff commands top dollar.

I was digging through a guy's dollar boxes and he had 2 2011 Topps Update Trout RCs. I held them up and said "You have Mike Trout RCs for $1?" I handed the cards to him and I told him I'd take them,he looked them up and when he saw what they booked for, said "guess not" and kept them behind his table so he could re-mark the prices. I could have been a Richard and argued that I agreed to buy the cards before he saw what they were worth and he should sell them to me anyway but I guess it was my fault for telling him in the first place lol.
I did find about 100 cards I needed for various Topps parallel sets I'm working on so I thought it was an alright show. Hopefully I can get the day off to attend the Thanksgiving Eve show in Johnstown.

Now that's a guy who's in it for the money and not the hobby aspect. The fact that he had to look up what they were worth to find out their value is just astonishing. Anybody who knows how to say the word "baseball" knows Trout.

A point of view I never considered at the time but you're right lol. There's more of those than people would care to admit too.

Not trying to hijack the question, but they usually hold it the night before Thanksgiving at the Johnstown Moose Club. I went once, in 2006, and it was very small and not particularly worth the nearly-two-hour drive from Syracuse. They actually don't have information on their website about this year's (they still have last year's info up). I'm sure they'll do one, because they have for 22 years, but anyway, here's the site:

In my humble opinion, if you're itching for a really good show soon, I'd say save up your money these next 2 weeks and make the trip to the Greater Boston show in Wilmington, Nov. 1-3. THAT is a fantastic show. Well worth the 5 hour drive in each direction.

Yeah I could have but a part of me was expecting him to honor the sale regardless and I'm sure many would agree with me on that. He didn't and yeah,I could have argued with him but I didn't partly because his young daughter was there with him and also because I didn't need the Trout RCs that bad to complain about it.

Pretty much nails it on the head. I'm only a 1/2 hour away from there so it's fine for me but not really worth it if you're driving a few hours to get there. I've known the promoter and many of the dealers for years and it's somewhat of a reunion since I used to set up at those shows.

I almost went to the show but I heard mixed views on it. I live about 2 hours away and from what people have been saying, it wasn't worth going. I guess there wasn't much of a selection? I was kinda hoping to go. When are they in Syracuse again? Or somewhere near Syracuse?
