I don't really see the point in buying 1 gram bars. The bang for your buck is just not there for me, but that my opinion

premium- they ALL carry a huge premium
not everyone can drop 1400-1500 on an ounce but its not that hard to drop 40-50 to get grams

Yea that is a tough question or me.
$50-55 for 1 gram Pamp or $150-155 for 1/10 Gold Eagle.

1/10 Gold is usually all I could afford.

I only started buying metals after they took the huge hit in April, mostly silver but I've been adding a 1/4 ounce gold Maple every month for a bit of diversification.
I have 7 now, 1 1989, 1 1999 and 5 2013.
