Ok - I am STILL trying to figure this out so bare with me....

I have a book that has a 1/32 inch color breaking (barely white) spine tick near the bottom that is barely visible unless you get about 6 inches away and then you only notice it if you are looking for it.

Book has super gloss, no finger prints, no 90's marvel tears chipping or anything and all corners are sharp.

Could this hit a 9.8 or due to the little tick, it gets pushed down to 9.6?

Thanks in advance,

J-

depends. i have had books with 1 tick hit a 9.8. general rule, if that is the only thing and barely noticeable, it will get a 9.8. the tick will keep it from a 9.9 and 10 but not a 9.8. to be safe though, see if you can prescreen it.

just noticed you said color breaking. 9.6 not 9.8 but i have gotten lucky before.

Since we are on this grading topic. I might as well ask a question too, rather than starting a new thread. I have always wondered this for the longest time, but...

If a comic book stinks, like it has a serious odor to it, for some unknown reason, but it does not affect the physicality of the book itself, then does its grade then get penalized or does it get excluded?

I don't think a stinky book affects the grade. :D
