I was contacted by a buyer in Australia who wanted to buy some of my cards but wanted me to not use ebay Global Shipping because it is too expensive.
I had searched on ebay and tried calling to see what other options I have as a seller where I would be protected. I couldn't find anything aside from the Global Shipping program.

USPS has electronic delivery confirmation on First Class International which is the cheapest. Is this an accepted method since there is some sort of tracking?

The cards will total a little under $150 and he has good feedback. I don't think there is any intention of a scam but I want to be covered for my own peace of mind.

If it's just for your peace of mind, then the electronic delivery confirmation should be fine, so long as you're willing to accept the same pitfalls of domestic delivery confirmation.

The good news is that Australia does not seem to be one of those countries which rapes their citizens with ridiculous import duties and taxes, which is probably the cause of 90% of the international shipping headaches.

If you want to do better, you could take the package in physically to the post office and send it registered. However, this will run about $23 or so, and the indemnity is some paltry amount like $40.

You'd probably be better off taking the extra $12 (and any other amount you're tempted to spend on postal insurance), tossing it into a jar and using the money at the end of the year for either a pizza party or a trip to Hawaii (depending on your sales volume).

As far I read from other sellers and buyers. There isn't big difference in S&H for a regular ship or the Global.

I personally prefer to ship directly. I'm not sure if the Global take items out of the box and re-package to drop some weight then just killing of a great packing.

Now I was checking the S&H for some items. I know it says "Priority Mail", but it hurts see $25 for a single card. I can be confusing for some buyers.

ifish73, I saw that you sell comic cards like me. I don't what countries support the eBay Global program. If you never try before I recommend add shipping to New Zealand. Also to Norway, Singapore, Brazil, and Switzerland.

Just as an update I sent the package first class international. He received the cards no problem and let me know. Just under two weeks from New Jersey.

The tracking of course stopped once it got to Australia:

Postal Product:
First-Class Package International Service
Features:
Delivery Confirmation International
Date & Time Status of Item Location
November 9, 2013 , 8:26 am
Processed Through Sort Facility .
AUSTRALIA

Good thing the buyer is an honest person.
