View Full Version : Are splitted edges common on thick cards?

So Nick Foles had quite a game today. So I found my Nick Foles RC Auto from Topps Prime and just noticed that the edges look like they are coming apart. In other words, the front and back of the card look like they are splitting. The card is still together in whole, but the damage is very noticeable (looks like multiple layers). I tried to take pictures from the best angles to show what I mean exactly. Does anyone know why this happened or had it happen to them? Thanks.

(Don't panic. I checked the MJ and it is fine in its magnetic and team bag)

Just list it on Ebay and dont mention the damage.

That seems to be a growing trend around here.

Yes, I have seen this numerous times. Especially with triple threads.

I've had several cards with patch pieces that were too thick for the card design place excessive pressure on the glue.

I've seen some really badly split cards. Mainly on Topps cards. I think Topps has the worst quality control of any of the manufacturers.

Still can't get past the Triple Threads cards with the bent letters.

I am not saying this for this card (mainly because it doesn't have ridiculous patches in it), but splitting thick cards is how a lot of patch fakers work.

This looks like bad glue from the factory...

Ive seen the issue on larger cards like this numerous times, it sucks but I just chaulk it up to the companies and keep on collecting.

Yes I have seen this many times with my Triple Threads cards, but nothing else.
