Look to snag one of the two on ebay.

2 questions:
(1)Which is better, a BGS 9.5/10 OR PSA 10 ?
(2) What is a fair price for these cards?

Recent sales are anywhere from $1500-2000

I have not looked into the price but I would certainly go for BGS 9.5/10 over PSA 10. PSA would be better for older cards but not the new stuff.

Buy one in PSA 10 with a good auto for $1300-1400 and get it graded minimum 9.5/10 in BGS for mayber $40 and latest sold around $2000. Don't crack out of PSA slab, just send in and see if it will transfer over at that grade or leave slabbed. You wouldn't be out much to get it done and you'd still have one of what you wanted.

I'd go with BGS.

I have a ton of PSA stuff so I clearly have no problem with them - I just like signed cards, modern, vintage, or whatever, to be in BGS because of the auto grade.

This^^ I prefer PSA overall but with an auto it's gotta be BGS.

Despite some responses here, PSA 10 will most assuredly cost you more. Depends what you are doing with it.

The BGS seller is sticking firm at $1900. I don't want to overpay. Is that fair?

Seems high to me.

I realize the last one got around there ($1,950 if I recall) - but they were closer to $1,700 for a long time (like 2 weeks ago) - I'd hold out

I suppose it depends on subs, off/on eBay, etc...

I just think you could do better if you waited - but depends on the seller as well.

Not necessarily, can vary from sale to sale and all the most recent have gone for less, but that could be different now.

That's $100 less than the last open auction ended and the BIN is actually less than the last auction as well. Other than going for a cracked ice version, you're after the most expensive version of the card, you're going to have to fork over for it, and most people aren't going to give that card up easily which should drive price as long as he's healthy and playing ok.

they sold for 900-1050 before the season. What has he done to make it worth 2 X as much. 6-2 is very solid but it increased like he wont the Super Bowl.

This is the truth.

With Contenders being out for so long at this point - most people holding them are people that can afford them – meaning people that pack pulled them probably sold them long ago to turn their profits. At this point, for a card with less then 100 copies, the people that have them – especially a 9.5/10 version – probably don’t “need” to sell so they are going to hold them long enough to get the price they want – especially with such a small print run.

At the end of the day (and I said I think $1,900 is too high) if you want it don’t let $100 or whatever dictate a decision. Whether it’s $1,700, $1,900, or $2,000 – if you are getting it from a respected dealer so you aren’t going to deal with any headaches just pull the trigger.

I just did the same with a PC card – I searched for a while trying to nickel and dime it to death – finally found the copy I wanted and probably overpaid because I was secure with the transaction itself and that’s worth a premium to me.

His Cracked Ice version will double or triple this version in sale value and then you have the Championship ticket on sale for a measley $40k. So not his best, but pretty awesome.
I agree with asujbl below, you will find that most of a card like this will be stashed away in collections of people with ample money to sit on them for thier own pleasure or profits, have had mine since a day after contenders was released because a buddy pulled it and I got it from him. Either way, the initial supply has dwindled and thus demand is still there pushing prices up. If you want a graph please refer to nearest economics book. Most QBs experience a sophmore slump, ie Cam Newton & RG3 to a certain extent mostly I think to his injury, however, Luck is an exception and currently his team is a front runner for a playoff run. If you don't like the prices now, wait until after they win a playoff game or two and the predition by Hawksmack of $2500 a card two months ago is almost a given. If they tank in the celler than you may not be able to get your money back out of it for another year when they are making another playoff run. It's a fickle market based on the flavor of the day and with a weaker QB class this year, that flavor is still last year's No. 1.

Link it.

I just searched all sales since the beginning of September - there wasn't a variation sold anywhere near that price.

Guy had it listed in auction format, I offered $500 as soon as I saw it, he came back with $550. He is a member here, I'm not going to link directly. Don't think he realized it was the variation. Will transfer pic and post in a bit.

No plans on letting them go for the next decade.
