We are halfway about halfway through the regular season, yet I have not seen signs at all of it....Is it just me? :o Or at least not as often:confused:
Have coaches decided to fend away from it, just as the wildcat, is it to the risk of injury, or something else.
Please let me know your opinion to shed some light on to this topic.

Keenum did it a few times actually.

Because the guys that run it get hurt. The Redskins can't afford to let RGIII to take the beating he took last year. Other teams saw and scaled it back. Guys like Wilson and Pryor run it more due to the fact they are not paid as much and their teams are not invested in them as much as Griffin.

Actually, the Read Option play is being run more this year.

The QB is keeping the ball a lot less than last year.

So basically, teams are running the play but coaching the QBs to keep it far less.

I think it comes down to the thought that it only takes 1 hit to end an entire team's SB dreams. Your QB could run for 100 yards every game of the year and then get eliminated in week 16 with one bad hit. The idea of telling the QB to keep the ball but "protect himself" just doesn't work...eventually he's going to get hit and hit hard.
