Left ACL tear AND a right Meniscus?

I say we have a PG version of Greg Oden.

What do you think?

I sold his stuff after he torn his acl. I was able to come out even. I hope he does come back but at the same MVP level, not a chance.

I think he'll come back...

But not sure if he'll ever be the same.

sad stuff. hate to see it happen to anybody.

He might come back but he probably just going to keep getting injured. I mean they are regular looking plays he keeps injuring himself on I don't know what to say. It's sad but that is my honest opinion on the situation I just cant see him staying healthy

He will come back. There is no doubt.

But imo his cards are done.

Being a Blazer fan I think I can state that I think he will unfortunately have a B-Roy type career after this.

He'll be fine. He didn't tear a second ACL or anything and this is something players come back from without issue

Bingo. It sucks but players come back from these injuries. Westbrook just did. This thread is foolish

People come back from multiple injuries including hamstrings, acls and meniscuses to be the nba MVP once again?

One injury yes but two+ serious injuries in a span on 10 games played is quite a different story.

yeah, he'll be like brandon roy.

I've always said it... He runs too fast to know what to do with it. smh

Yeah, he's done. Well, he can come back all he wants, but doesn't mean he will ever play at a high level. He just doesn't know how to play without hurting himself. Plain and simple.

His style of play will keep getting him hurt. I hope I'm dead wrong. I want him to come back and prove everyone wrong.

He's gonna be like Grant Hill

Dwade3HeatC

He'll definitely come back, just not the level he once was. Maybe in a couple years, people will look at rose as like a Gilbert Arenas (contract-wise) because Rose will never be worth the money he is getting paid. Just like Arenas.
But performance-wise, I'd say a Brandon Roy at the least, a Dwyane Wade at the very highest

I still have somewhat hope in him. Every time the heat played the bulls a couple years back, I wanted to pull my hair out because of how good Rose was against the Heat. It made me mad haha. But I realize now that I really miss how he played

I'm thinking this. Possibly a shorter career than Grant, though, just because of how much athleticism is a part of his game.

Really sad to see.

Nevermind Hill, how about we just go with the more obvious Penny Hardaway comparison?

We need to double his expected return time, he won't be mentally ready. Probably write him off for the season.

Certainly not done, but his playing style should mellow with the Return 2.0.
Don't mean to spam or anything, but I posted my full opinion on my site.

Lot of interesting parallels being drawn tonight, did any of those guys wear adidias shoes other than Rose?

We cant compare him yet to GH and penny. He became an mvp and that will be the icing... Down the line whatever happens. If he comes back strong or not. He will still have a lot of collectors than GH penny combined.

He's far from done my friends. Tony Parker had the same injury and surgery procedure last year and was out only 10 days. I figure since Rose likes to rest and take extra time off. He will be back within 3-6 week. In all honestly, no one knows exact time table until after the surgery is performed and if they don't find anything else wrong with his knee during the surgery then he should be good. Pray for d rose.

Tony Parker and d wade both had same miniscus injury. Stay optimistic. Let's wait for post surgery report and hear what d rose got to say 2 weeks from now.

Wade is going to sit 20+ games this year because of that decision. Parker was already 30 and and understood his career was slowing down. Rose would be dumb to go the Wade/Parker route at his young age. This team can still get into the playoffs without him and there is a great chance he would be back if he got the damaged area fixed, instead of removed.

You are out of your mind if you think a "me first" player is going to risk cutting his career short for a quick return. Derrick doesn't care about the team, he cares about himself.

Where did it say anywhere that he would come back as.mvp?

Thread states a career being over or not.

I meant his career is over in terms of he will never play at a high level again, he'll be in and out of the league like Greg Oden.

Rose is still a young guy. This is a different knee. I think everyone is jumping the gun on the talk of him being washed up.

Sorry I didn't realize a guy coming back and being a role player would be counted as a success in your book after he was MVP of the league.

I hope he can prove everyone wrong buy the odds are not looking good for rose and him being the player he once was.

Rose will most likely re attach his miniscus like Russell Westbrook did. Most likely miss 4-6 months. The quicker route would be to cut off the damaged tissue but I doubt he would take the short term route. Just sad , and it sucks for him. Adrian Peterson had both ACL and MCL tear exactly same as rose on different legs. Lets wait and see.

So Lebron is the only other player 3 out of the last 4 years to play at a high level?

Definitely pray for DRose, but at the same time Parker had a different surgery done than what Rose will. Since Parker is up there in age they decided to just remove his meniscus. Rose will have his tear fixed to prolong his career. This takes a longer time to recover from. Likely return is 4-6 months.

Agreed. We just have to wait and see. I'm confident Rose will work his ass off to get back on the court. That's obvious. I'm just very worried about his body right now. It's breaking down on him and it all started during that shortened lockout season where teams were playing back, to back, to backs. No time for your body to rest and heal.

I think his other leg was compensating for the Rehab on his ACL. Doctors even said that other injuries are to be expected as the body heals. He did have a hammy injury, and I wonder if the hamstring injury aided in this tear? Either way, I have all the confidence that he will come back ans play to his strengths again!!

He will come back but needs to make some adjustments in his game. More finess less knee stress.

Look at what his game is predicated on... and ask yourself honestly if he can be a "MVP quality" player again.

He'll play again, but I don't think he'll ever reach elite status again.

Jopeal

These are two very extreme options. I don't think he's the next Greg Oden nor do I think he can return to MVP form.

I think he'll be back next year and able to avg 18 & 5. I no longer think he'll have a Hall of Fame career, but he's still going to be a good player albeit an injury prone one.

He probably cares what type of condition his knees will be in in the ~60 years he has to live post his basketball career. Which option would you like to see him take?

He should have it fixed, not removed. While it is a longer recovery, it is also the better long term option.

I think you read my post incorrectly based on your response. Read the context again.

Agreed, different knee and different injury. OP reminds me of the posts that ask if players as young as Kyrie Erving or Blake Griffin are already Hall of Famers.
