View Full Version : Wow, just noticed this about Lebron's number

Anybody think the reason he changed to number 6 is because Bill Russell wore number 6? Just noticed that as I looked at a Lebron card, obviously I knew he was number 6 I just never made the connection.
Think about it... He wore 23, a number of Jordan who is arguably the best ever.
Then he changed to 6, a number worn by the greatest winner ever (championships galore, something Lebron didn't have at the time).

Interesting.

I was thinking it was just to signify his 6head and receding hairline.

But either theory will work.

I get bored sometimes, sorry.
Coincidence is likely, but why number six? Possibly six rings like Jordan?

The number 23 is retired with the Heat.

per lebron -
"My second-favorite player was Julius Erving, and he wore No. 6," James said. "I wore 32 in high school because Dr. J wore it at first. My first child was born on Oct. 6, it's my Olympic number, my second child was born in June."

Well, yes and no. Sure he changed it for the reasons in the Huffington Post article, but that doesn't mean he wasn't also doing it out of motivation or to pay homage to Russell.
