Anyone who knows me, or has transacted with me here or on eBay, knows that I am one of the best. I have no problem saying that, because I ship safely and always next-day (with very few exceptions). To me, that makes this even more comical.
Timeline of events:
-- 11/18/13: Item purchased - 2013 Heritage Minor League Alex Meyer jersey relic, $4.50 dlvd.
-- 11/19/13: Buyer messages me, asks if he can send cash payment; I only accept PayPal, but of course I oblige, because I'm just too nice.
-- 11/20/13: Buyer mails payment.
-- 11/22/13: My eBay account opens an unpaid item case; I immediately turn off the Unpaid Item Assistant, close the case, and message the buyer to let him know what happened and that it's been taken care of. Buyer responds kindly.
-- 11/23/13: Payment received (Saturday), $5 bill, with a note asking for change (http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/baseball/621113-ebayer-asking-change-anyone-ever-deal-such-thing.html).
-- 11/25/13: Item shipped with change.
-- 11/28/13: Buyer leaves negative feedback, saying I filed an unpaid item strike against him (not true). Has not yet responded to my message asking, essentially, WTF. Item still in transit.
And a happy :turkey: day to all!

I figure as much ... as long as I maintain TRS and my 20% FVF discount, it doesn't bother me too much ... but I will fight to get it removed nonetheless.

Without problem? Please. Nothing on eBay is done "without problem". Not to bash you, but eBay is the biggest cluster #$!# in the business.
I had a guy specifically tell me if I did not send him a card because he was unhappy, to keep him happy, he would leave me a negative feedback. eBay said this was not feedback extortion and my negative still stands.
eBay will give you a much harder time than you think. Sucks, but it's the truth.

Calc, sorry it happened but I did see it coming. Any halfwit that still sends payment by cash via mail was likely to pull something like this. Never mind the added audacity of requesting change. Hopefully you can get it removed.

Buyer revised feedback this morning on my request. All is well, or something. Sometimes it pays to be kind and to treat people with respect, even though I wanted to show him what for.

Congrats, I always respond politely as well even when you want too poo down their throat. It sometimes helps with the half wit like in your case but it always makes a difference when having to get customer service involved and they see how professional you've been. Plus, it is nice to be the bigger man even when you don't want to. Happy Thanksgiving. :turkey:

I couldn't agree more. I've found that it is pretty much the only way to operate when selling through Ebay.
I still don't understand buyers that geek out over $5 cards, though.

Glad it all worked out! It seems as if this buyer just had to take a step back and see how this really looked and that there was no harm, glad he came to his senses.

This same POS just tried to give me my first negative for similar circumstances!
$1.49 CARD! She/He goes ahead & purchases, and THEN emails me telling me she/he needs to send cash b/c her/his "Paypal isn't working at the moment."
I tell her I don't take cash, and cancel the transaction...she agrees to cancel it, but not before popping me with a negative, saying how I should be ashamed for not working w/ an eBay buyer w/ 100% positive feedback.
Luckily eBay was actually on a Sellers side for a change, and removed the bogus negative (after being on hold over phone for 2 hours).
I feel like I came out on top, here is the message I sent her/him after the feedback was successfully removed:
Dear sharlie1986,
I'm very disappointed in your decision to leave me negative feedback regarding your attempted purchase of the Shariff Floyd card.
If only you had read my accepted forms of payment, you would have seen that I ONLY accept paypal as a form of payment.
You didn't do that, so you attempted to sully my 100% feedback rating that I have earned over 15 years of selling/buying on eBay.
Luckily for me, your attempts at doing that will be thwarted by eBay, since YOU were the one in the wrong on this transaction, not me.
SOOO Ironic that you mention your 'perfect' eBay score when trying to sully mine. If negative feedback could be left for buyers, rest assured, you'd have at least one negative for not reading directions.
I sincerely hope you find this card in the future, and I hope whatever transgressions have been committed (which SURELY weren't your fault!) to have your paypal account disabled are fixed soon. You may want to read the descriptions a little bit better.
Have a great day!

Set your buyer requirement filter so it blocks bidders without Paypal account. May save you a headache in the future.

Problem is, buyer has a PayPal account, but only says it is "not working" after purchase.

Unless you have your filter set, how would you or I be able to know whether there was truly a Paypal account or bidder saw "Paypal only" in description, but wanted card bad enough to hopefully be able to send cash/check/MO. Either way, buyer/bidder is one to stay away from :)!

....NEVER accept anything but PP
If he says it is not working, ignore it, wait for the 3rd day, UPIP and 4 days later relist.
if he MAGICALLY has funds and pays on the 3rd,4th,5th and leaves a neg, notify ebay through your representative and get it removed since his actions would be seen as shady as well as cost PP fees and allow an unscrupulous seller to list item not paid, recover fees and move along.
It's not worth the money or hassle to accept money through the mail. You may as well go altruistic and give him the card for free because of the numerous ways it can go bad
