I have about $20 and want to journey back into coins for a little bit. Never got a lot at one time, like over $100 at one time. Just curious what is hot right now. I got some pennies a little back, and it was a few common wheat pennies.

Rolls of halves and quarters and look for silver ones.

Don't get quarters. I went through over 100k in quarters, with only finding less than 1 on average per every 10k searched. Halves are good, by the box, no sense in just going to the bank to get 2 rolls, you will spend more in gas than any find you may get.
I would say either get $20 in nickels, and just store them away( once the US mint stops making the current nickels, these will have even more value), there are Billionaire investors sitting on warehouses stocked with millions in nickels, good enough for them, good enough for me.
or throw in $5, and get a box of pennies, alot more time consuming than nickels, but alot more profitable.

Well I walk to the bank cause it is just down the street from me lol. As for the pennies, they have paid off for me. I found a 1909 Indian head cent, but would have been worth more if it had a S on the back. Since then, I have not found anything except wheat cents from the '30s and up

Congrats on the 1909. I found a 1909 VDB(check the reverse of yours on the bottom for the initals VDB), if it was a 1909-s VDB, I would have been looking at around $1k if not more. I did get another 1909 VDB back in change from Wendy's, along with 2 silver dimes. So it pays to check out your change.

Indian Heads did not have VDB. The 1909 S Indian Head is worth about 3-4 hundred bucks in VF-AU Condition. Plus even if you found a LINCOLN 1909 S VDB in pocket change, the odds of it being even close to AU are very low.

Full boxes of pennies run $25 and can be a fun search albeit time consuming and a bit harder on the eyes.
I have mined about 20 boxes of bank rolled halves ($500 dollar boxes - sealed straight from the depository) this year and average just over 1 90% silver and right about 1.5 40% silver halves per box. Slow process and I feel bad dumping the same box at the bank that orders them for me so I drop them at another branch.
Best case for me lately has been asking for customer rolled halves. If they say "yea, some guy just brought in tons of rolls" then they were likely a miner as well and the rolls were likely searched already. On the other hand I went in to a local Wells Fargo the other day and got "some lady brought it 2 rolls yesterday". I grabbed those two and they netted me 6 bens and 8 kennedys (2x 90% and 6x40%).
Happy hunting

You just walk in a bank and ask for a box of pennies? Wouldn't they just give you new ones?
