Hey guys curious never really searched rolls before. But curious how many rolls do you need to get at a time to find some that are worth anything other then face value. I got 4 rolls today from the bank. And not a damn thing. Not even a 40% lmk thagnks

I don't goto the bank and get rolls to search but I own a business that does a lot of change and I usually find a silver quarter 1 in every 250 or so rolls made...last run was close to 600 rolls before I found one but usually around 250 for me

Yeah I own a business also but don't deal with change a lot. Every once in a while I bartend at a buddys place and I find star notes a lot and older wheat pennies but never silver

Roll searching will cost you money by the time you factor gas into it
Their is money to be made in pennies

Well I was at the bank Making a withdrawl:) then the guy was like anything else. Then I asked him about half dollars and he said they just got a fresh case in so I grabbed 4 rolls. And my usual $10 in pennies. I get 10 dollars worth a week. I don't go through that many. But besides pre 1981 what else do you look for since we are on that subject

I used to spend my lunch breaks at school going down to the bank and getting $20-30 in mixed rolls to search. Can't say much ever came out of it. I got maybe $1.25 in 90% and all the Wheats you could want. It is fun though, like a free way to gamble.

Check into this, I learned a lot from these guys Coin Roll Hunting Forum at Coin Community Forum (http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=147).

I went through several hundred in quarters, dimes, and nickels with no luck!

For dimes, silver dimes are 3 or 4 per box. I bought a nickel box once and got only 1 silver nickel. More luck in box hunting than by the rolls.

I've had better luck finding 40% halves than any other denomination. It's also a lot easier to search due to the size and number of coins to weed through. Still, it's getting harder and harder to come across any silver in rolls these days. It's still fun and good luck with your search!

DON'T get quarters, they are the hardest to find silver. But only buying 10 rolls you shouldn't expect to find anything, that is only $40, when I was searching I would get anywhere from 5 to 10 boxes a week. I have been skunked many times on all 10 boxes.

Pennies are your best bet, I was sorting so many, I have sold over $10,000 fv in copper pennies. I have also found multiple errors, and key date pennies, with a handful in the $1,000 range. Google key date pennies, or go buy some coins books. It would take me 2-3 hours, to list everything to look for

Couldn't agree more.

I assume you were searching half dollars? You really have to do high volume to find anything really. I would order full boxes from my bank. I could go through 20+ boxes and not find a thing. I have found silver, but never more than a few coins in a box.

Coin roll hunting is incredibly tedious and time consuming for little reward. I don't do it to make money, I do it to collect and try and build up a nice hoard of silver. I have actually had better luck finding silver when I am NOT looking for it... like when I get change at a gas station or I am working.

Had a rewarding day today- Took home $300 in half dollars from the bank and came away with 7 40% halves and a 90%. Nearly $30 in silver for a cool $3.50.
