That's exactly the first thought that popped in my head when I saw it. An unnumbered jersey card with an NFL logo in it? I doubt it. Nothing against you, OP.

I know Ebay isn't the best source, but out of the 63 other "Yard Markers" jersey cards on there.... every single one was single color. Only one that I saw had stitching in the piece.
I think it's a cool card still, I don't even have the money to purchase any of them. Just throwing my opinion in there...

has fleer ever been known to produce fake cards? it is a certified officially licensed card.

Fleer most likely didn't do it. Someone else probably put the fake patch inside of it after they acquired it. Unless you personally pulled it.

In person it looks like an early laundry tag. I have checked others from that year range and it looks similar. There are no indications other than this being the original piece in there. It is just as real as any other logo.

There is an andrew jones box score patch with no numbers on ebay right now. Thank you for falsely defacing the validity of my card but, you are wrong. Fleer most likely didn't do it. Someone else probably put the fake patch inside of it after they acquired it. Unless you personally pulled it.

I'm not saying that it's not real I was saying IF it was fake fleer probably didn't pack it out that way.

There looks to be some scratches on the top of the y in the patch window. Another indication card was tampered with.

A ton of Fleer products were backdoored thru their bankruptcy with empty patch windows. There are TONS of Fleer fakes out there.

Not hating at all, but that fleer patch is NOT real. Fleer didnt fake it OP, because then it wouldn't be a fake...but someone did.

i have looked this card over, even with a magnifying glass and if it is faked then it was from the factory. there are no "scratches" from removing another piece. there are blade marks from the cutting of the original opening. while the logo is not embroidered and not the new shield, it still looks like stitching with paint overlay. i don't know how they did all logos on his jerseys 12 years ago but, it is as real as i can prove.

You are underestimating patch fakers. There can be no evidence at all of tampering, and the patch can be fake.
In this instance, I've NEVER seen a logo like that on an NFL jersey. If I'm wrong, correct me, otherwise I'm afraid it's a fake.

No one is trying to "hate" on you. We're just letting you know that it's more than likely a fake. Throw up that scan in the football discussion area and you're going to hear the exact same thing, just from more people.

I didn't catch it. i looked on the bay and the others are jeersey too. a few of them look more "fake" as far as the condition of the card around the gu piece.

nothing makes this one look any more fake than any other brand out there. if everyone is gonna say one card is fake then who is to say all of them aren't fake? is there somewhere that the major card companies have to prove that the gu pieces are all real?

Just because you think you have a big card doesn't mean you actually do
Everyone is trying to tell you earlier patch/jersey cards DID NOT have those type of tags/patches in them unless they were veryyyy low numbered

You are not understanding. That logo does not exist in that fabric or size on the NFL uniform. Someone purchased that card, and took a fake patch and inserted it. That's what makes it fake, not "just because". There is a valid reason that we are saying this to you. Not to piss you off, but to let you know.

can anyone show me a peyton manning 1998-2001 game used jersey showing all patches, laundry tags. i think there are several of you truly interested in either helping or just preserving the sport of collecting. to you few, thank you for being helpful and honest. i don't feel it is right to say another persons card is a fake unless you can flat out prove it. if this were the discussion section then discuss away. this is the b/s/t section and that is what should be talked about. i see tons of other cards and prices that i just think "ha" and move on. if you really feel strongly about a card then message the guy.
there is nothing proving that this card is fake. several of you think it is but, even you have just an opinion and no real evidence of it. now, fake or not you have made other think it is and therefore fear buying or trading for it. i would never do that to anyone else unless i had actual information proving the facts.

find one person that actually thinks its real. the fake patch inside that card isnt even something that would ever been on a jersey

Again - Fleer backdoored tons of these cards WITH OUT jersey pieces in the cut out. Many have put fake patches AND logos in them. If you opened or purchased cards back then you KNOW that NONE of those cards came with patches or logos. There is no "proof" to post other than this was FACT in 2002. If any potential buyers have been scared off then GOOD as they would be buying a fake patch card and you are knowingly trying to sell one as everyone in this thread has told you its fake and not one single person has verified it as real or even stated its real.

Not being a pain, and not telling you your card is a fake. I would actually try to contact Upper Deck about it. I think they own the Fleer name now. Or bring it to an authentication company and have it certified. I think a lot are going to think it is fake because they have never seen anything like it. If you can get it authenticated by a reputable company like PSA or someone of the sort, that would alleviate any differences and tell you either for sure it was real or for sure it was fake. I think all the others are saying is they have seen a lot of similar cards, with no evidence of any modifications, that look legit that are actually fake. Again, not saying it is, I think they are trying to help you out honestly.

Knowledgeable collectors would have known to stay away from it, anyways. It is, what it is.

I am not going to say it is real or fake. However I have held in my hands the exact same card that was put out after Fleer went belly up. It was from a manning collector and he wanted it because it DID NOT have any patch at all in it. He also had a couple more from the exact same set that were the same way. the cards were produced by Fleer and when they closed their doors stuff started leaking out. And when the bankruptcy folks go involved all types of things with the Fleer logo on it started to pop up. I agree with schwood. If you feel totally that its real get it authenticated. But until then I caustion you about putting it on here because the sharks will continue to circle..
