Reese Havens, the first-round pick of the Mets in 2008, has retired (Rubin).

Havens played six seasons in the minors, finally making it to Triple-A in 2013. He was rarely healthy, playing in only 345 games over his six years of pro ball.

He posted a .252 batting average with a .355 OBP over his career, hitting .237/.312/.330 in just 38 games in 2013.

I know he had a good amount of cards and people collected him.

Had high hopes for his bat if only he could stay healthy but seemed every season it was something or other.

Real shame. Had talent, injuries derailed him.

Really thought he would become a Chase Utley-type hitter. It's a shame injuries ruined a player like himself.
