View Full Version : Throwing out 1990's 2000's cards

If you're interested in a particular team or player, contact me and let me know if you want something. These are mostly Topps, and will be in the garbage by the end of the day unless you want them. I'm talking 20 to 100 cards for shipping fee plus $5 or $10 bucks.

tajikey

Wait, so, you're going to overcharge for base cards you were going to throw away in the first place?

20 - 100 throwaway cards for around $10. Sign me up! I'll take them all!

JordyG

no jerkoff, I'm offering these cards to anyone who wants them for the cost of shipping and a couple of bucks. If you don't want them, then don't post in this thread. Don't you have anything better to do?

I'd need to see some scans before I start tossing that kind of cash around...

JordyG
01-23-2014, 02:56 PM
gee guys, ya don't think someone who collects, say, Roger Clemens, would be interested in 50 or 100 Clemens cards?
ok, straight to the circular file. No good deed goes unpunished.

jeffmagley

why woudn't you just let them go for shipping costs if you were going to throw them away? Also referring to someone as a jerkoff is not going to get you much business here

$10 for 100 cards isn't a couple bucks. Generally good base (meaning no 80s/90s junk) is easily available to purchase at shipping plus $1/100 cards. At $10+shipping there should be at least 1000 cards.

I will take any 93 finest or SP Derek Jeters that are in that lot. Also, any Frank Thomas, Mariano Rivera, or Mike Piazza rookies. PM and let me know
Also 2000 topps traded Miggy. God bless

thanks for a non-#@#@#@#@#@#@#@ reply, dodge. I can't really scan two huge file boxes of cards. I just thought this pile of Randy Johnson's from the 1990's on through might be wanted somewhere. Why are these guys so aggressive and mean? I got kinda ticked off.....

Would have to disagree on that. I deal with a member here on the forum that sent me shipping lables plus around 14-20 bucks per the thousand. Worked out really good for me and him.

Just the way things are on this site. People are like that.

But in reality, they're right (about the prices, not about treating you like crap).

You basically have to give away (in other words just charge for shipping) on any base cards from the late 1990s, early 2000s.

Very typical...

Dude's not going to be giving these away, no matter how old/young he is or how little he knows about the hobby. But nice job of trying to take advantage.

like I said, you need more details. A generic "hey I have a bunch of cards for sale" doesn't do it for anyone!

Maybe, hey I have a bunch of cards from the 1990s - 2000s for sale.

I have the following:

Frank Thomas - 25 $4
Barry Bonds - 33 $3
Ken Griffey Jr - 55 $6
Greg Maddux - 14 $2

Well, I'll just chuck them. I started this with the best of intentions. BTW, I called ONE GUY a jerkoff, because he was aggressive and insulting.
I'm aware these cards aren't worth much. I will throw them away. Anyone who knows how to delete a thread, AND a whole account, please let me know. I don't engage in this kind of banter, and wish I had never posted this.

Kinsler, good lord. Just because you take advantage of people doesn't mean I am. I just thought SOMEONE might want these cards. I'm emailing an administrator and never coming here again. I like vintage cards, and spend a heckuva lot on them. I don't want these cards.
I still can't believe how hard I got slammed, when I was really just offering some cards I didn't want to people.

What? I was here trying to defend you. I even sent a PM apologizing for the way the others were acting toward you. You don't even know me, yet you accuse me of taking advantage of people? Wow.

I might not be one of those that act like what's typical on this site. But it's probably the last time I standup for you.

You do take advantage of people... this is a direct quote by you... Typical

"It's getting worse. Used to you could end the item down to the very last second, which I did often when things weren't reaching bids I wanted them to go.

Then they made the rule that you can't end something that has less than 12 hours left if there's a bid. Now they're charging you fees for listing early if it has bids.

Just more and more ways that fleabay screws the seller. "

JordyG
01-23-2014, 03:18 PM
Kinsler, my apologies. I didn't understand your message. I sent you a reply. Thanks again.

Donating them is a GREAT idea. I think I'll do that. There is a local Ronald Mcdonald house for underprivileged kids. I'm going to see if they want them.

TarjetasBéisbol
01-23-2014, 03:20 PM
Picture this JordyG, and it won't take you much effort at all, put these cards in boxes and just give them to a baseball coach in your area. Any kid who receives them will love it and you will have created a baseball card collector for life.

No...wait....don't do that, because that will mean they may build an interest in card collecting, find this site and try to sell them here!!

Seriously, donate them to some kids

crazy4kinsler
01-23-2014, 03:20 PM
Not sure how that's taking advantage of people. That's looking out for me. Taking advantage of people would be to sell the item, then decide to cancel But that's not what I was doing.

Besides, that has nothing to do with this site. Plus, I don't do that anymore. As you can see by my feedback, it's been nothing but positive on this site.

Now back to helping this guy try to figure out what to do with his cards. I would donate them to the Ronald McDonald house. Or even to the local Boys & Girls Club.

TarjetasBéisbol, I am right now looking for a boys home or foster home near me. That was such a good idea. I've gotten deep into vintage cards, and have no use for these. I will give them my base 2012 and 2013 as well!! Any ideas on how to find the right place to donate these? Anyone? I'm searching......

Good site but they don't want cards from the 80s and 90s.

(please note that we can only accept cards from 2007 to 2014):

Get in touch with your local little league or just donate them to Goodwill. Goodwill has an auction site where they sell and sports cards are a sub section.

JordyG
01-23-2014, 04:00 PM
The goodwill is a for profit business, owned by individuals, so that's a no go. I've since found a guy who runs a nearby foster home that might take them. Also waiting on the Ronald McDonald House (for underprivileged kids) to call me back.
I sure didn't like all the mean posts, and I got real angry, but good come out of this! Thanks again, Targetasbeisbol, for the idea.

Don't take this place to seriously. Just scan some threads and you will find that most people here are halfway decent and you can make some good deals here. Good place to sell some vintage but do a little research before you offer them up as to the prices they are currently selling for, vintage always gets some looks. PM me if you need any help with anything

Even kids don't want 1990s. I guess that makes sense, since they never saw most of those guys play. I found a guy who runs a foster home to take everything from 2005 to present, so some kids will like those I hope.
And now I also know what small men the vast majority of guys are in these forums. Never coming here again. Oh look, my psa 8 1955 Clemente came in the mail. Yay!

I think the issue is that you just joined the site, and your first posts are that you are looking to throw cards out, but then you tell people to pay you over and above the shipping cost, when you planned on trashing them. That just looks bad, so I assume now you can see why people jumped you.

I'm sure you can get a few bucks for them if you separate them into player or team lots and take a few cell phone pictures.
