Is it worth it to get poor T200s graded?

I have three Fatima T200 team cards from 1913 that were once my grandfather's - and once his grandfather's. He wasn't a collector and never thought to encase them in any sort of protection.

My dad got a hold of them in the mid 1990s and put them in some Ultra plastic page protectors, where they have been since. I haven't touched them/pulled them out for fear of damage.

There are crease marks, one has a small piece of tape on it, and some corners are completely gone. One is worse than the others. I noticed everything on ebay is graded.

Is it worth it to send mine to get graded? Is there a preferred form of protection for me to put them in? Nothing else I own is more than 40 years old, so I am in the dark as to how to treat them.

I don't think I'd ever sell unless I absolutely had to, as they have more sentimental value than what I could ever get for them.

If you are talking about creases, tape and missing pieces, I'd say "no", don't bother. Maybe just get some one touch magnetic or screw down holders and save the money. They would be PSA 1's at best.

If the value is purely sentimental, then just preserve them yourself the best that you can. Very cool story, though. Love the generational cards!

Depends on the teams. There are a couple of very tough team cards in the set that will definitely bring more graded. These have been reprinted so grading would bring some peace of mind. The Detroit card with Cobb, Cleveland with shoeless Joe Jackson and Pittsburg with Honus Wagner aren't the rare cards. You're looking for New York Americans and Boston nationals, those are TOUGH.

I would get them graded for two reasons, preservation and authentication.

As a family item, I'd get it graded. Just for the preservation and protection. It also displays better and stores safer in a slab. I would suggest SGC, I think older stuff such as your cards looks best in the SGC slabs.

id second the recommendation on SGC - those old cards are great in them - I got a bunch graded on a special they had for like $7 a card I think?

As has been said, slab them for preservation and display. Don't worry about the grades. They're 100-year-old cards your grandfather collected. Worth the price to slab them.
