I am trying to figure out what he is trying to say? This is regarding a purchase of cards on ebay.
Yes, he said before i won the auctions that he combines shipping. I won 8 listings. 10 cards total. Low end singles . $9.50 most expensive card.
I ask for the combine shipping total.
his answer:
"I will ship you 5 cards for $4.00. Or I will ship all 10 together for $10.00. It will cost me more money to purchase a bigger box for all ten cards. You will save $2.00 if you allow me to ship two separate bubble mailers with 5 cards in each. Which method would you like me to use?"

Send him, end transaction notices for all the cards.

He has to spend money out of pocket to purchase a box big enough to ship 10 cards.
If you ship 5 cards, he can do it with supplies he has on hand and will do this for $2 per package.
If you will allow him to ship in 2 separate packages of 5 cards each, he will charge you the same $2 per package, or $4 total.
Basically, he's giving you an option to pay $10 for shipping in a box or $4 total for shipping in 2 separate envelopes.
At least, that's the way I read it.

$10 for the box or $8 for the two envelopes, hence the $2 saving he refers to. Clear as mud!

why not just sent flat rate priority, free box, insured and same price basically?
what kind of combine shipping is this guy have? first time i heard of split combine shipping saving any money. only USPS is making money. Both the seller and buyer are losing out on this scheme.
I dont mind paying, but the way he "spins" the "saving me money" is of the wall.
I wonder if sending each card individually is even cheaper.:special::special: with his combine shipping rates.:special::special::special::special::special::special::special::special::special:

I'm totally lost in translation. Are these 10 cards graded or what? Why would he need a box to ship really? I'd send 10 cards in toploaders in a 6x9 or 6x10 bubble mailer for 3.50 with no problems, loss of money or money gained.

Yes. This is correct. I was mistaken. It's $8 total shipping he's asking for.

Email him back & tell him a small Priority flat rate box from the USPS is free & you'll pay $7.00 for it. Also tell him he can order it online from usps.com if he can't get to the post office.

Guy should have just typed - "Combined Shipping is $8, but they will be shipped in two separate bubble mailers". I agree with the OP on the SFRB. Oh well...
