There is a 1% chance Alex Mack is coming back to Cleveland. He wants paid a ridiculous amount of money. Who wants their team to sign him? Anyone?

I want Frank Winters back... even Scott Wells.

I'd love to see the Colts sign him, but how much is he asking from Cleveland?

He wants to be the highest paid C in Football.
You can't franchise him because they group all OLineman together so he'd be making LT money.
He's a great guy - I'm not hating on him at all - but he constantly complains about the cold weather (he's a California kid) and he wants between 6-7 million a year which is quite a bit for a Center. He has embraced Cleveland for sure. He's very involved. You can tell he'd prefer California or Florida weather though. I've heard Tampa might be a landing spot.
If I had to choose between TJ Ward and Alex Mack I'd take Ward - and clearly the Browns feel the same.
It'd be much more of a shock if he was back in Cleveland than if he leaves.

I'm sure it's just the money is the problem and not being on the Browns :p
I wouldn't mind the Pats making an offer/signing him.
The cold weather comment might not work well in Foxboro :o

The Patriots are the last team in the world that would give 7 million dollars to a Center :D

He's asking for the moon. No way this happens, as much as I'd like to see it come to fruition. God knows Samson Satale sucks a donkey.

I've been lobbying on twitter for about 2 months for the Colts to sign Mack this summer. They can cut Satele, and I believe they will regardless of Mack, and his payout would only be $1 million, saving the Colts over $4 million against the cap. As it stands, Satele is the 3rd highest paid player on the team and that is flat out ridiculous.

Wouldn't surprise me based on where he is from. Would be very Raiders as well to pay him what he wants.

Ill pass. Garza may not be the best, but he also doesnt cost the guap of Mack.

I sure would like to see him in a Pats uni. Line him up flanked by Mankins and a Guard not named Dan Connoly and maybe, just maybe, the up the gut pass rush problems would be solved.
That said, I don't want to pay him Mankins money to make it happen. Talib and Edelman are higher priorities IMO.

He will be a Raider as the interest is mutual. With AL gone I don't think the raiders will over pay for him. Mackenzie may not be able to draft but he is smart with the cap.

Mack's a beast. I don't think he's ever missed an offensive snap (correct me if I'm wrong). If the Browns don't re-up him, he will have a line of suitors.

Pay him.
Center is the 2nd most important position on the o-line, behind left tackle of course (assuming you have a right-handed QB).

I would love to see the Raiders sign him. The team has plenty of cap room so could give him a front loaded Contract to keep him happy that is a lot more cap friendly in a couple seasons time. Signing Mack would also allow Lil Wiz to move back to LG where I think he is a lot better suited (great blocker but struggles sometimes snapping the ball). With Mack and Veldheer (who should be re-signed if not franchised) the Raiders would have a pretty damn solid OL.

If I were the Raiders I'd franchise Veldheer. Mack would be an excellent pick up for your team, especially if you guys take a QB with your first round pick.
Mack would be the latest in a long line of BEAST Raider o-linemen. The Raiders have had some bad motherf*cking linemen over the years. If you were to build an all-time offense, most of the o-line would be Raiders.

That's why I said I would like them to sign him , not for 7 million, but I would want them to sign him. Yes, Talib/ Edelman are higher priorities

For sure. He's a darn good football player. But, if he's all about money then he won't be Foxboro bound. The Pats won't pay him top dollar, but they'll pay him a moderate salary with the opportunity to be on a perennial contender.
I think we're on the same page about his free agency priority. Talib, then Edelman, then Mack and Blount. Hopefully the NFL rightfully gives the Pats cap relief with the Hernandez BS.

I'm not a Patriots fan, but do you really think Edelman should be your second priority in free agency? Sure he moves the chains, but slot receivers are usually easy to pick up cheap elsewhere, either in free agency or in the draft. If I were Belichick, I'd try and pick up a good explosive receiver in free agency for a cheap price (Hakeem Nicks perhaps?). As great at evaluating talent as Belichick is, his drafting of wideouts hasn't been as good as obviously his drafting of tight ends. I also believe that the Patriots' eliminations from the playoffs in recent seasons has been largely due to a lack of weapons at Brady's disposal.

I had no idea that was the case. I guess you learn something new every day.
Why wouldn't centers have their own pay category? What other positions are lumped together on the Franchise Tag pay scale?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Bucs signed him they made Jeff Faine the highest paid center back in 2008 when they gave him 6 years 37.5 million contract, even though they released him in 2012.
