My first time that I have been shilled!

Well I have never been shilled before but I believe I have caught my first. Less than two hours left on item so I can't retract. I contacted seller asking to cancel and notified him I would not pay out of principle. It is only going to be $7 over going rate so I would not have been alarmed until the amount of bids and then a retraction when I was outbid. I then reported item to eBay. Is there anything else I can do? Below is link to item and such...

You can only report it in eBay and write somewhere about the "suspect" shiller. So if he continuous with that method at least someone can be ready to avoid the seller.

My 1rst time I met a shill bidder. He bids until a point near my limit and then he contacted me that he wanted to stop the auction in that point because the other bidder quit. I noted something fishy because the other guy only retracted the last bid that overpass my limit and also was low feedback. It was more than $30 in bids. I just answer back that he was shill bidding.

It is too bad other buyer that appeared at last moment didn't noted the fishy bids and there wasn't method to alert him. So he bid over me. So the "shill" seller and eBay won. :(

eBay and its shill problem is old. They aren't interesting to resolve any issue that can give to them more money. Just see the problem with some seller making money with S&H. There wasn't solution. They add a fee for S&H. So for shill bidding, they get more money with higher bids. Also noted something. In the past the system always gave the same 2 alphabets or numbers for privacy. Now it is random.

So weird. He wrote back four times last night, offering money off at first, then getting mad and trying to justify the auction in other messages. Then the last message begging for cancellation and apparently reporting me?

Well this item took a crazy turn. I wrote him, telling him I wanted to cancel that next morning, he proceeds to tell me to name my price if I bought the card and he lost his job and needs money. I'm on a mini vacation so I tell him I will take it for $1 than the last real previous bid. He writes a bunch of messages asking how to do it and to pay him in full then he will refund over like three messages. I'm at breakfast so I didn't respond. I get a call from a 352 area code which I don't answer and then start getting text messages from this guy saying who he is, he wants me to have the card, he needs money, he doesn't know what the shill bidders is doing, he called eBay for my phone number, and so on. I recieve multiple texts without a reply from me. I write him on ebay and simply state I want to cancel and it finally happens hours later. Can eBay just give out this info? I feel like I was wronged a bunch in this instance and apparently he is doing it to a lot of other people. I hope not calling them.

Its on the invoice when you go & pay. They only share it to buyers & sellers in a transaction. Not to anyone who asks.

If you buy something the seller see your telephone in the invoice. Also I read somewhere the buyer or seller can ask for it, but not sure about it.

Now lets be clear. Never answer telephone calls or text messages from eBay members. All the transaction must be work inside eBay system.

I'm not overly mad at ebay for giving my phone number out but surprised. I am instead shocked at the balls it takes to call and text three times without an answer from me. All this done begging to make a deal?!?! I would have bought the card at the non-shilled price but after basically being harassed, no way!

It is easy. Take some time an report this seller that he wanted to contact you outside the eBay system. Again with USA support from the Security & Trust whatever division.

eBay will just take it easy with the shill issue because they win money. But eBay don't like transactions outside its system because they loose money. So maybe they be look closely the guy.

If you do not understand what the issue is, then there is little that I can say. I had no issue with paying up to my max bid until it was apparent that I was shilled when I was outbid, and then a bid retraction happened right before the deadline. I am not going to do business with someone who uses dishonest practices for minimal gain out of principle. What I find interesting is that your first post on BO is here in this thread and have yet to post anywhere else.

I do not have to explain myself. I am fully aware that shilling in against ebay policy and a federal offense. It does not bother me that you copied and pasted my message. Actually glad you did. Also, just a note. It was none of your business to even message me. Yes there were reports to ebay. I am glad you guys did report me. The fact of the matter is I contacted ebay and they see that the bids were not shilled and also that there is nothing that I did wrong. I am tired of all this. I will end with this. Let be clear. Because you have available $20 or whatever as max bid for an item. It isn't excuse to accept shill bidding. In auctions you are suppose to "compete" with other interested potential buyers. Not against the owners and his/her friends/relatives/whatever.

The fact of the matter is I contacted ebay and they see that the bids were not shilled and also that there is nothing that I did wrong.

No one will tell that maybe has a investigation against you. In this moments, eBay don't care about shill bidding because they are winning money. Also they are selling the site as buyer friendly atmosphere. So for them "shill bidding" is a urban legend. Until one day they (eBay) wake up with a class action or someone powerful gets mad.

About complaints and reports in this type of cases. eBay only care about the ones involve in the issue. So a watcher reporting it. eBay will not care about it. So no need to worry about it.

102007Bravesfan, so if you aren't a shill bidder. It isn't needed go crazy about the topic. It is technically his words against your words. For the future. It is just the time that will proof your innocence and that was a coincidence of a "potential" buyer who bid like crazy in your items.

About contacting buyers and sellers in eBay by phone of text message. Only use the eBay system. Unless you create a news e-mail about your items for sale. Many of the people that makes deals online want things to stay online.

Seriously, every time somebody accuse someone about bad attitudes (scamming, non payer, shill bidding, etc.). I take things with "tweezers" because I saw some people just go crazy or obsessive with others. So I always let the time deal the situation.
