2013 Contenders Cracked Ice are SEVERELY overrated

So I just got the Stewart cracked ice in the mail today, and I've got to say, I'm pretty disappointed in it given the hype they get on here.

The "cracked ice" aspect of the card is hardly noticeable, I really have to look at it from weird angles with direct light on it to still only barely see the "cracked ice" finish to the card

I was expecting it to look more like the cracked ice's from Prizm where it really stood out without having to look at it from all sorts of weird angles.

I agree. I've heard the same from others about 2013 and it made me stay away... but 2012 were beauties!!

This year they didn't chrome the background like last year. Huge difference, I wonder why they did it that way?

I have to agree 100%. I was never able to find the guys from 2012 I wanted and these just make me want them even more. I was really happy to pick up a 2013 Ryan Mathews for $3 bucks and then it arrived, not really what I was expecting.

Even the Prizm purples were done better, which is pretty sad. I guess they wanted the 20th anniversary editions last year to stand out above all the rest, which I can get on board with. I doubt that was their intention though.

I feel like 2012 contenders could go down as the greatest product of all time someday.

Man, I have no idea why people like this Ice pattern. I hated it when Topps did it in Chrome, and I hate it on these cards. Its like we are collecting autographed princess stickers with quarterbacks instead of disney princesses.

2013 Cracked Ice is terrible but I don't think they're overrated. I don't think anyone considers them to be a huge hit this year.

He said obnoxious. I'd just like to hear what makes them obnoxious in his opinion. I'm not attacking the guy, I'd just like to know. As I said before, I haven't seen a single person say they prefer 2013 over 2012.

It's all subjective. I can see why some people would like the subtlety of this year's design. Personally, I thought last year's was one of the top 5 best parallels I've ever seen. The first time I saw that design was in 2011 Topps Chrome and I loved it then, too.

Well first off, they definitely look better in person than through a scanned image (2013's). I like the subtleness of the design. I like the 2012's as well, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the 2013. I definitely think the blue font on the 2012's was a nice touch.

Have not seen a 2013 in person but I did pull a 2012 in my last break that didn't like the look. Cracked Disco ball. Maybe Drop some LSD and look it may change my mind.

I think they are still pretty sweet looking. Just sucks they made 2x the amount with the variations.

Maybe it's not that 2013 are overrated,.... maybe it's that the 2012's are UNDERrated. (if that's even possible).

2012 Contenders Ice combined with that rookie class, could be some of the all-time greats.
