View Full Version : Cool leagues other than the NFL?

One of my favorite things is to read about old football leagues or leagues in other countries.

For example: World Football League (http://wfl.charlottehornetswfl.com/main/)

I'm thinking about making some custom card sets for these foreign or defunct leagues. So what leagues (at any level) do you know of? I'd like to read about leagues that operated for at least one full season and maybe had some great stories. Yes, I already know about the CFL and the USFL.

Looking for some real "hipster" leagues. : pushesupglasses :

XFL by far. That was awesome to watch.

XFL was awesome.

What I really like are the older leagues with retro logos and interesting stories. For example, Semi-Pro (Will Ferrell) was a terrible movie - but I enjoyed it just because I like seeing those old teams like in the ABA.

Is it wrong that I think these Indian teams have better logos than most NFL teams? Not only that, but THEY HAVE TRADING CARDS!!!

I think the NFL is the only pro sport in the US that hasn't truly ventured outside of the US for the most part when drafting or signing athletes.
The NBA, MLB, and NHL have all gone to other countries and have gotten All Star/All Pro caliber players.

I know it's now the AFC, but you could still do an AFL retro, since ABA was merged in with the NBA.
