I debate the fact that you can debate this topic. It'll spin out of control by page 2.
I'm a Cavs fan, season ticket holder forever, and even I can't hate on LeBron anymore. He's just too good.
People are going to sit back in 10 years and kick themselves for not appreciating him.

There will always be people who hate on great players. It's just the way it is. Lebron could go out and score 100pts, have 20 assists, grab 30 rebounds, hit the game winning shot in a triple overtime thriller in game 7 of the NBA Finals and there will still be people out there hating on his performance. Some people just like to be different and cause contention when they know the vast majority think it was the greatest performance of all time. Also, I think some people are just tired of the media's obsession with Lebron James and that plays a role into their 'hating' or being sick and tired of him.
I personally don't dislike Lebron at all but I can see why some may dislike him. It's just human nature sometimes to hate on the best. That's why more people hate teams like the Yankees, Lakers, and Steelers. You also have people that hate on college teams like Alabama (football), Kentucky (basketball), and Duke (basketball). There are others but it is what it is when it comes to personal opinions.

Yeah, I don't hate him but he is definitely one the those players that gets the "WHATTTTT???" face after every foul against him or whenever he thinks a foul should have been called.
With that said I enjoy watching him because he will go down as one of these best and I just appreciate his game and what he brings to the table.

I really hate when he does that as well.Really grinds me gears when he does the run across the court. Im not saying its right but i fell like everybody does that. KD,Chandler,Kobe,Rondo,AI, Those were/are some of the worst but i feel like every player does it at least a little.

Well put. I personally dont hate anyone in the NBA. There are players i dislike such as Dwight Howard but even i see that he is a great talent. Thanks for the reply
I don't hate him, I consider myself fortunate to be able to watch him play in his prime. The only thing that bugs me about him is he seems completely fake.

Yeah it really pisses me off when bandwagon heat fans run there mouths about how good they. My favorite team would be good to if i changed my team every year lol. I Personally think Lebron will be very close to Jordan if not better by time his career is over but thats for another thread.

It's mostly the way he acts and stupid sh!t he says.
1. Wade and him making fun of Dirk being sick in the Finals.
2. Needing to join the superteam to finally break through and win.
3. His flopping. I know a lot of guys do it, but LBJ is bigger and better than most and is the face of the game right now. He doesn't need to flop worse than Battier to try and get an advantage. At. All.
4. The whole Rushmore thing is ridiculous.
5. The dunk contest. that one year he said to put his name down for next year and then he doesn't show out. But then right before AS weekend he can make that video of him doing crazy dunks in practice. He could've broke his ankle doing that, too.
6. Bailing on Cleveland and the way it went down.
And many of the the other reasons already posted.
Now, I don't really "hate" him, but he does get annoying. I wouldn't consider myself a fan of Bron, but I do see how great he is and I like that as a basketball fan. He just needs to think a little before he speaks.

1.I cant really say anything about the dirk thing since it was so long ago i really dont remember the details
2.He wasnt going to win in cleveland. Dan Gilbert did nothing to help the franchise.
3.I think its the officials job to decide if a player is flopping so i dont really care so much about flopping.
4.He was asked a question in an interview and he answered how he honestly felt.
5.I think he should have joined the dunk contest the year he said he was but you cant get angry at him any more. I dont see why any player would want to join that circus lol.
6. I think your talking about the decision. That wasnt his idea, ESPN came up with it and its raised 1.5 million for the boys and girls foundation.
THanks for the post, I do think maybe it would be easier on him if he'd tune own the self praise but that him, he honest and if he feels he's top 4 all time then hes gona say it.

Obviously he is the best at the moment, no question!! However the reason I dislike him is a lot of the reasons stayed above but most of all, his arrogance while on the court! His smug face, you just know that he thinks and knows his so much better than everyone else.
There is a fine line between arrogance and confidence.
I don't see much of his games but I did watch the warriors/heat game a week ago, it just annoyed me so much when he hit the game winner and instead of being happy etc... He did that stupid chest slap celebration or whatever it is. That pissed me off about him more than anything... Soo arrogant.

While I agree with Bill's sentiments, to me he does come off sounding a little butt-hurt. I'm sure Lebron didn't mean any disrespect - inevitably he had so leave some players off. Will Kareem, Wilt, Shaq and Kobe et al. be releasing similar statements soon also?

I'll try to contain my hate with just 10 things, I dislike LeBron because:
1. He left Cleveland to join a shoe-in Championship team
2. He has no NBA rings
3. He cannot perform under pressure
4. He travels
5. At best he is like Tracy McGrady, because KD is like T-Mac and KD is better than LeBron 1-on-1
6. He is a terrible defender because he has never won DPOY
7. The Rushmore thing. Man what an ass for answering a direct question
8. What does he do that other players can't do. Overrated
9. If he gets any better my MJ collection may die
10. I was wrong all those years ago calling him a bust. Now I have to justtify my first formed opinion by picking at everything he does. that hairline LOL

Heres a nice Lebron quote for everyone,
"Well, obviously there's the utmost respect for Bill Russell and what he's been able to do, and not only on the floor, but off the floor, too, being a pioneer, being one of the leaders that helped us get to this point," James said. "He paved the way for myself and the guys that came after him."

I'm not going to be like everyyyybody else and say that I was always a Michael Jordan fan growing up. Let me emphasize that I respect both MJ's and LJ's approach and skill for the game. As a child I always wanted to be different, so looking at Jordan when I was first exposed to the NBA in elementary school, I didn't feel like I was being an individual by rooting for the same cliche players that everybody liked. You know the big one's in the early 90's, of course Grant Hill because I lived in Michigan, then Jordan, Penny, Shaq, and Kidd. Believe it or not I always rooted for Jordan to lose because he would win so often I just didn't think as a child it was fair. So, I would root for the Brian Grant and Mitch Richmonds hahaha. Then as I entered Middle School I bent to peer pressure after a horrible trade of offloading my Star Players for Brian Grants and being made fun of, so then I started collecting the big names. Now, I'm an adult and instead of rooting against him Jordan, I respect his persistence during his journey of becoming the GOAT.
Lebron is a whole other story... I was a huge Lebron fan! I never forgave Shaq when I was in middle school for leaving Orlando, I guess to this day I'm just not a fan of players leaving their teams after their first contract. I mean after seeing Michael do what he did, I just expected once in a generation players to have that same persistence/loyalty. Of course it comes down to the many politics of how hard the player is trying vs how hard the organization is trying. To me Lebron is this generation's Jordan, and he doesn't come close as far as character. Jordan proved haters like me wrong by hard work, determination, and shushing the critics with the resources he had around him. Lebron's legacy is riddled with controversy, joining a superteam, Ray Allen saving him from losing to yet another old fundamentally sound team, etc.
When all is said and done I will always see Lebron as an opportunity bouncer. He's like Floyd Mayweather in a sense, applying more weight, paying the fine, and have the advantage. Lebron, took a pay cut to get an edge by joining a super team. And the worst part about it is that it was during a younger part of his career, so don't start pointing fingers at Boston. And for everyone that says that garbage about OKC or Jordan and the Bulls also having a supporting cast, here's the difference the ORGANIZATION did that. The players did not pow wow and take pay cuts to develop those teams. Durant didn't choose to go play with Westbrook and Harden, that just how things unraveled, because of the Organization's moves. Same with Jordan. Same with Shaq, Shaq didn't go to the Lakers cause he already knew Kobe was the man. BUT, Lebron went to the Heat calling Wade and Bosh (Toronto) and colluding something together to create this all powerful team where you have the top 5 draft picks of 2003 on one team. IF I HAD TOLD YOU THAT BEFORE IT HAPPENED MOST OF YOU WOULD BE LIKE, BRO THE NBA IS NOT A VIDEO GAME. Lebron, Bosh, and Wade single-handedly changed how teams are built or in my opinion destroyed!
So, what do you have old school vs new school.... Teams where players take pay cuts to play together to create a SUPER TEAM and hope that the players have good chemistry VERSUS Teams like the Pacers where they don't really know where Lance Stephenson, Paul George, and Hibbert are in there development, hope that there scouting is right and either you have a great team or you need to make changes. Same goes with OKC, nobody knew how James Harden or Ibaka was going to pan out and it just did based off intuition. There was no question mark whether Bosh and Dwade were BEASTS, they only questioned to chemistry between the 3. Straight Up just Cheating in my eyes.... this is what Salary Caps were supposed to prevent, but instead it's turning into Baseball. The sorriest part of it, is that some players DON'T want to beat the team, they want to join them and are willing to ALSO take a paycut because they think this is there way to a RING.
Sorry for the article but I was bored at work, and NOW i'm all fired up!!! hahah

i collect Lebron, but somethings about his game really irritate the shizz out of me sometimes. Like when he thinks he gets fouled and rather complain to the ref instead of getting his ass back on defense? i know alot of players do this but Lebron makes Millions of dollars, just keep on playing...DAMN! Ive never seen an argued call reversed. And him not wanting to enter the dunk contest. Lol! Why not? He always does crazy stuff during play arounds and what not. The least he could do is that. They should put a must enter the dunk contest within 2 years of being drafted clause in player contracts when they sign into the league. Lol!

I feel like I have a healthy sports hate for LeBron James. I enjoy watching him play against teams other than the Magic and the Mavs. But on a game like today, where he was hitting 3 after 3 and acting like a cocky son of a bitch, I dislike him. I do watch him, as well as other players through the league pass because I dont want to miss out on the "greatness".

All I know is that by the end of any of these discussions, I invariably have less respect for almost everyone involved.
I have an immense regard for Bill Russell, but his 'zinger' did more to lower himself to the conversation than to elevate him as a legend. The only thing that could have made it more cringeworthy was if he had punctuated it with a "Oooooooo.....BUUUURRRRNN!"

Sorry for the article but I was bored at work, and NOW i'm all fired up!!! hahah
Thanks for the response, Really enjoyed reading it. Personally in my eyes Cleveland gave Lebron no choice but to leave. The only help they got him was a washed up SHAQ "At the time we all knew he wasnt much of a help" and then Jamison who didnt do much either. Jordan never had to leave because by the end of his second contract he had Pippen and soon after that he had rodman. I do wish more teams were like the pacers and OKC tho but if players are willing to take paycuts i cant really get on them for that. Thanks again for the reply.

People who dislike LeBron are wasting their time. How sad of a person do you have to be to hate on everything he does, whether it is in game or in his personal life. People are looking for reasons to hate him when he plays basketball instead of sitting back and watching one of the most talented players to ever play the game.
I mean he has such a pathetic hairline!

I loved what Russell said. I would definately understand if more legends said something along the lines of, "don't discredit stuff we have already done for stuff you say you are going to do"
I guess if Russell was a member on here, he would have agreed with me in my thread about Lebron disrespecting legends so much :)

I don't disagree with the contention that Blll Russell is one of the all time greats. I wouldn't even disagree with the contention that he is more worthy of a spot in the mythical top 4 than Lebron.
Still, you can't credibly say you're above worrying about individual glory while pointedly commenting that you're not getting enough individual respect from someone.
Anyhow, it just made me a little disappointed that it got to Bill Russell enough that he felt like he had to say something. I thought he'd be above that.

As a person who isn't that fond of Bron, I am not looking for reasons to dislike him. His off court actions are just ones that I do not find admirable, whereas his on court actions are one's I find AMAZING and I am grateful I can witness them (with exception of his amazing flopping skills). Everyone has different standards, some people may find that Lebron joining a superteam is not a big deal, and find it offensive that Jordan and Kobe committed adultery. And some people may feel that whatever Jordan and Kobe do in there personal lives outside of sports is private, and they find it offensive that Lebron would take a pay cut and collude with others to create a superteam. Different strokes for different folks!

I hated Lebron leaving Cleveland (very easy to see why now, with the mess they're in).
I thought he had something really special there and a Championship would have come and would have been an incredible achievement.
To me, he totally wimped out. He bailed instead of taking on the challenge.
Imagine if MJ did that?
To me, that does not say greatest ever and never will.
Lebron would have to win 8 for me to put him above Jordan.
Now I just hate how immature he stills seems. But the guy does cop a lot of hate. I mean, he just had his season high today "to shut the haters up". If that is his motivation, then he'll never be even on the BS Mt Rushmore.
By the way, what Bill Russell said, was absolutely classy and I'm shocked that people think otherwise. He's not hurt, why would he be? He has players from his era that feared him.

If bill Russell was classy he wouldn't have felt the need to publically say something to 'Mr. James' at all.
I'm actually quite shocked he replied like that and felt the need to try and discredit 'Mr. James' for not being on the list.

Agreed. Haters will hate.
I actually think that any profession is like this. If you are really good at what you do there will always be people who don't like the fact that you are so good at it. Whether it is in the sports realm or even if you work in an office. Many times an ego will come with true greatness. Lebron is no different. In order to be great at something you need to think and know you are great at it. The difference between Lebron and an office worker is that Lebron is being interviewed about how great he is. Your local accountant may not be asked on a continual basis why he is so great at being an accountant.

LeBron has taken it to another level. The guy's not even 30 for god's sake. His answer to every question of how great are you should be answered along the lines of "well, it's not for me to decide" or "let's see how the rest of my career plays out", "I'm thankful for those who consider me a top player, but let's not get ahead of ourselves" yada yada .. the media does bait him horribly but James takes it hook, line and sinker almost every time.

Honestly If had lebron's talent id talk about myself all the time to. Id would just back it up a little better. I would have scored 20 points in the paint on M.Gasol and asked who voted for DPOY and Instead of wishing i took as many shots as KD i simply just would, Id win the scoring title every year and come to plain every game and not play down to the level of my competition. Note: Id do all of this and still win the game :flex::flex::flex::flex::flex::)!:special:

Different sport, but same type of profession. One of the best short stops to have ever played the game. And even Boston fans will be sad to watch him go. So to say that anyone great will be hated anywhere near this level is ignorant.
I'm not a Lebron fan but I am a realist. The bitching and moaning mixed with flopping is annoying as hell. He is way too good of a player to resort to that. Some of his fans are my biggest problem with him. Way too many nut hungers that believe he does no wrong. But everyone acts like he is a devil off the court. Yes he shoots his mouth off and comes off as cocky and disrespectful. He also does a lot of positive things like charity and is involved with youth programs and such. Not saying that makes up for everything else enough for him to be like able but to say he's all bad isn't true.

"its because of his fans" is posted so much on here. in reality, i dont see constant praise on here or threads popping up constantly about lebron being the best that ever lived. there are about 20 trolls to every lebron fan on here, they stir the pot, and the fans react. maybe if the people that constantly spew hate would look in the mirror and see they are the problem, these threads would die down and they wouldnt "have" to hate the lebron fans so much. i think that excuse is poor. its either people dont know why they hate him, or they have other reasons they dont want to admit.

You realize that you are one of the worst offenders of the "his fans are why people dislike him so much"?
When pushed into a corner you will say that he does some things wrong, but any time that he is mentioned in a thread it is almost a 100 percent guarantee that you will turn it into a 10 page thread going back and forth with everyone. The majority of the time posting random things that really don't make a point. It's just an attempt at trolling people and baiting them into flame wars. Just like your "More like Russell crying over Lebron" comment. Completely pointless and nothing more than an attempt to get a rise out of people. If you would learn to just let stuff go at times, you wouldn't get into so many flame wars with members.
