I picked up 2 of these, a release from … 2011? 2009? … in the discount bin many states away from North Carolina, for a friend of mine.

A shop owner here in NC told me the set is worth about $100. But I would imagine that is a master set. The base goes up to about #90 I think; but lots of insert sets I think as I saw a card #178 I think.

My friend has the classic story of "my mom threw out my cards" - he had a probably impressive collection of early 70s basketball cards back then. He loves UNC basketball, so I picked these up for him.

He is opening them very slowly and might not want them at all in the long run, though I plan to give him some binder pages to keep it in.

My question is - how hard would it be to complete a master set? I realize two blasters would probably put me close to a base set, but probably pretty far from all the inserts.

Anyone working on this one? How hard is a master set?

I busted a hobby case and a couple blaster cases. I believe I got 3 master sets out of a retail case which was 20 boxes I think.

I believe you will easily get the base set with two blasters.

Per 20 box blaster case I think I probably averaged 3 autos and like 5 /50 parallels.

Hope he pulls a nice auto.

Oh and I sold the master sets for like 30 dlvd in eBay. I think

The last base set got $8 dlvd on eBay... So $20-$40 for the master sounds reasonable.

The full set with all the SPs (1-183) will run you closer to $100.

The 1-83 base set goes for $5-10

No way the full set goes for 100.

I've sold close to 5 of these sets most at auction and they ended around 20-30 almost every time.

Maybe they have increased a little but those were all within the past 8 months probably.

I've gotten $80 for the full set 1-183 in the past, "closer to" $100 :)

Although, admittedly, this was in Chapel Hill.

thanks everyone. I should have clarified that the shop owner I was talking it over with pulled that figure from that certain paper periodical that we all know has little basis in reality. But I could see short prints making for a difficult set so I thought the $100 might have been a possibility.

I'm thinking it would be more of a pain to chase the 100 short prints / inserts as singles than it would to just pick up a $30 full set.

are there any rare /# Jordans or Jordan autos or Dean Smith autos or anything like that to particularly watch for when ripping?

I never personally opened any of these, but I feel like I remember everyone talking about a super shot printed Ty Lawson auto that was selling for something crazy like $1,000!
