Was poking around on some forums and had advertised 2 of my Frank Thomas 1987 Pan Am Blue BDK #36 PSA 10's.
I get a bite from a guy, we haggle a little bit and agree on a price. Next, Im concerned about sending a high dollar card to someone I don't know so I tell him I will put it on ebay and he can just use buy it now.
He writes back that it would be easier and I would save fees if I just send him a paypal invoice. To ensure me that hes legit and not out to try and rip me off he revealed his identity to me.. I verified it, and just sold a card to Evan Mathis... An interesting twist to my day.
I asked if he cared if I shared the story and he said go ahead.
Here is a link to a beckett article about his card collection.

Wow, Evan Mathis; he's just like us, working to avoid ebay/paypal fees.
Mathis is a real OG (literally). Been looking for one of his Sweet Spot RC's for a while.
Jason Kelce still has better facial hair though....

He seems pretty familiar with the industry. If he wanted to be on here Im sure he already would be. Heck maybe he is.. He didn't mention who he was until I had concerns about being ripped off.

HAHA Not Evan Gattis he said Evan Mathis of the Eagles. The Braves would have a pretty tough time with Evan Mathis behind the plate.

“I used to always count my Bo Jackson and Frank Thomas cards,” Mathis said. “When I first started collecting, Bo Jackson was my favorite player. His career came to an end in the early 1990s and that’s when Frank Thomas became my favorite player. I was a hoarder when it came to those two. I loved trading my friends to get cards of my favorite players and nothing beat pulling them out of a pack.”
Did anyone else catch this? He sold his friends for cards. D:

I remember reading this article back in July. But what's up with Bo Jackson BGS 1? What's the significance of that?

"Mathis started collecting when he was about 6 years old. His first card was a 1988 Topps Bo Jackson that he still has – in a BGS 1 holder."

No. He didn't sell his friends, he traded them there's a difference.
Selling children, or trading children! I wonder how much book value a child is worth....:)!

Speaking of Gattis, I just pulled his auto in my 2013 Heritage High Number set!

Just thought I would throw an update. Everything went smooth with the deal. Immediate payment (obviously). Evan even referred a friend of his to me for some other cards I was selling. Evan is a good guy, if you ever get the chance to do business with him, jump on it.
